🚧 ROAD CLOSURE NOTICE: EMERGENCY STORM SEWER REPAIR 🚧

🚧 ROAD CLOSURE NOTICE: EMERGENCY STORM SEWER REPAIR 🚧

Beginning June 8, Putz Construction will perform an emergency storm sewer replacement project on Otto Drive after a failed storm sewer created a large sinkhole beneath the roadway.

Construction is expected to continue through approximately June 19, weather permitting. During this time, motorists should expect temporary road closures in the project area.

Old Cape Road at Otto Drive will be closed for several days at the start of the project. As work progresses, a portion of the 800 block of Otto Drive will also be closed to traffic. The timing of these closures may shift depending on construction progress.

Crews will replace approximately 185 linear feet of storm sewer pipe to restore the integrity of the roadway and drainage system.

Please plan alternate routes, follow posted detour signs, and use caution near the work zone.

We appreciate the community's patience as this necessary infrastructure repair is completed.

The Jackson Police Department wishes everyone a Happy Memorial Day.

Today, we honor and remember the fallen service members of the United States Armed Forces who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to our country. Their courage, dedication, and selflessness will never be forgotten.

May we all take a moment to reflect on the freedoms we enjoy because of their sacrifice.

Join us today as we honor the veterans of our community at the Brookside Park Memorial Ribbon-Cutting Ceremony.

This special event will recognize the addition of new flags and names at the Veterans Memorial, as well as new lighting improvements installed along the pathways leading to the memorial. These new lights, requested by the VFW and installed by the City, now allow the flags displayed along the walkways to remain illuminated overnight while maintaining proper flag etiquette.

We invite the community to join us as we remember and honor those who have served our country.

🚧 TRAFFIC UPDATE 🚧

The new Deerwood Roundabout at North High Street (Hwy. 61) and Deerwood Drive will open to full traffic later today.

Fronabarger Concreters, Inc. is opening the roundabout to normal traffic flow, and all construction-related lane restrictions, temporary signals, and detours will be removed.

A few final items still remain, including completion of one splitter island, some seeding work, and pavement re-striping. These remaining tasks will be completed with traffic flowing or under minimal flagging operations.

As drivers begin using the new roundabout, please slow down, yield to traffic already in the roundabout, and follow posted signs and pavement markings.

Thank you to our residents, businesses, and visitors for your patience throughout the Deerwood Roundabout Project.
