Community Safety Notice

Over the past week, a young Hispanic male has been reported going door-to-door in the Town of Jackson attempting to sell children’s books. The Town has an ordinance prohibiting door-to-door solicitation and the sale of merchandise.

The individual has also reportedly been asking residents personal questions regarding their finances and daily schedules, which has caused some residents to feel uncomfortable and concerned.

The individual has been advised to leave the Jackson Town limits. If he approaches you or attempts to solicit you within the Town of Jackson, please contact the Jackson Marshals Office at 225-634-5900 and provide as much information as possible regarding his location and activities.

Please do not confront or engage in an argument with the individual. Thank you for helping us keep our community safe and informed.

We had a great turnout for the Jackson Marshals Office End-of-Summer Water Bash! We sincerely appreciate everyone who came out and helped make this event such a success.

A special thank you to all of our supporters and sponsors who helped us put this event together. This was our first year hosting an event like this, and we are extremely grateful for the community support we received.

We had a great time bringing everyone together, and we’re already looking forward to making next year’s event even bigger and better! 🎉

On July 27, 2026, Deputies with the Jackson Marshals Office conducted a traffic stop after observing multiple traffic violations in Jackson.

During the stop, Deputies recovered approximately 2.5 pounds of suspected ma*****na, drug paraphernalia, and $950.00 in U.S. currency. A vehicle believed to have been used in the commission of the offenses was also seized, with asset forfeiture proceedings pending.

Preston Hilliard was charged with:
• Running Stop Signs
• Possession with Intent to Distribute Ma*****na (Felony)
• Possession of Drug Paraphernalia

Jaydon Davis was charged with:
• Resisting an Officer
• Possession with Intent to Distribute Ma*****na (Felony)
• Obstruction of Justice (Felony)
• Possession of Drug Paraphernalia

The Jackson Marshals Office remains committed to proactively enforcing narcotics laws and protecting the safety of our community.

On July 22, 2026, Deputies with the Jackson Marshals Office received notification of multiple shots being fired in the area of Cottage Street and Walnut Street. Upon arrival, deputies determined the shots originated from 3476 Cottage Street and were the result of an altercation between two brothers, identified as Juan Vessel and Tyquan Vessel.

The investigation revealed that the incident began as a physical altercation between the brothers before escalating when Tyquan Vessel produced a firearm and fired multiple rounds at Juan Vessel. Juan was able to flee the area and was not struck by the gunfire.

During the scene investigation, Deputy Marshal Lakentra Davis recovered multiple spent shell casings and located the firearm used in the incident after Tyquan Vessel concealed it inside a trash can at the scene. Detectives with the Jackson Marshals Office responded and processed the scene, collecting all available evidence.

Due to Tyquan Vessel's extensive criminal history and his status as a convicted felon currently on felony probation through the Louisiana Department of Public Safety and Corrections, detectives initiated a follow-up investigation into the origin and possession of the firearm.
Tyquan Vessel was taken into custody and has been charged with:

Aggravated Assault with a Firearm
Felon in Possession of a Firearm
Illegal Discharge of a Firearm
Obstruction of Justice
Resisting an Officer

This investigation remains active and ongoing. Additional charges may be filed as detectives continue to review evidence and complete the investigation.

🚨 TRAFFIC ENFORCEMENT NOTICE – JACKSON MARSHALS OFFICE 🚨

For the safety of everyone traveling through the intersection of LA 10 and LA 68, the Jackson Marshals Office is actively enforcing traffic laws in this area.

Please be advised:

🚔 It is illegal to use the roadway shoulder as a turning lane to bypass traffic at the intersection of LA 10 and LA 68. Deputies are actively issuing citations to motorists observed committing this violation.

🚔 It is also illegal to cut through the Dollar General parking lot for the purpose of avoiding the traffic signal. Private parking lots are not to be used as a bypass around traffic control devices, and motorists observed doing so may be cited.

These enforcement efforts are intended to improve traffic flow and, more importantly, protect the safety of motorists, pedestrians, and customers entering and exiting local businesses.

Please obey all traffic control devices, remain in the proper travel lane, and allow yourself a few extra minutes during periods of heavy traffic.
