JPS Middle School at Parkside Middle School at Parkside serves over 800 students in grades 6th, 7th, and 8th. They work to become inquirers, thinkers, communicators and risk-takers.

The Middle School at Parkside strives for our students to be knowledgeable, principled, open-minded, caring, balanced and reflective. The main goal at Parkside is to build positive relationships with families and to foster students' academic and social abilities. Parkside's faculty and staff maintain an environment where teaching and learning are the primary focus giving students the essential academic skills needed for success. 🧡🖤 PARKSIDE PARENT ENGAGEMENT DAY SERIES #1 🧡🖤

We are excited to invite our Parkside families to our Parent Engagement Day Series #1 TOMORROW: Thursday, October 22, 2026, from 8:00 am –2:00 pm.

Join us for a day filled with opportunities to connect, learn, and engage with our Parkside community! Activities will include:

🎨 A fun craft
🍎 A snack
📋 Resource tables
💻 Google Classroom Station
📚 PowerSchool Station
🩺 A special presentation by the Center for Family Health

🎶 Varsity Band will perform at 12:30 in the Media Center, followed by the Center for Family Health Presentation.

🎤 Advanced Choir will perform around 1:30 in the Media Center.

🧡🖤 Congratulations to our Parkside 7th Grade Football team on their UNDEFEATED season! What a huge accomplishment!

Our Parkside 8th Grade Football team ended their season 4-2 against some tough teams.

Both teams played Saline tonight. Here are the scores:

7th Grade: 🏈
Saline: 28
Jackson: 46

8th Grade: 🏈
Saline: 44
Jackson: 14

🏐 Viking Volleyball vs. Pinckney

Both teams fought hard against Pinckney last night! 🧡

7th Grade Orange continued to show growth in serving consistency and working together to get three hits on the ball. While they fell in three sets (13-25, 10-25, 11-25), their progress is showing!

8th Grade Orange battled in a close match, falling 24-26, 24-26, and 18-26. The team showed improved serving consistency, lots of aces, strong blocks and attacks, and some incredible defensive digs!

We are proud of the growth, grit, and determination both teams continue to show. Keep working, Vikings! 💪🧡

We would also like to thank Chick-fil-A of Jackson and the JCISD for the food before our game! ❤️

Vikings AAU Basketball tryouts are coming up at Parkside Gymnasium!

Tryouts are for 4th, 5th, and 6th-grade students ready to develop their skills, compete, grow as players, and be part of a team.

Tryout Dates:
Sunday, November 1 | 6:00–8:00 p.m.
Tuesday, November 3 | 6:00–8:00 p.m.
Thursday, November 5 | 6:00–8:00 p.m.

Players should bring athletic wear, basketball shoes, a water bottle, and a positive attitude.

🧡🖤 JPS Staff Spotlight: Sarah Ludwig 🖤🧡

We are proud to recognize Sarah Ludwig, Principal of Hunt Elementary, for receiving a special letter of recognition and appreciation from the City of Jackson Fire Department.

Sarah was recognized for her dedication to fire and risk prevention, her commitment to student and staff safety, and her partnership in helping to bring the Sound-Off Program into JPS schools. Her work has helped strengthen safety education and prevention efforts across the district.

The Fire Department shared that Sarah’s efforts have made a meaningful difference not only at Hunt Elementary, but throughout Jackson Public Schools and the wider community.

Please join us in congratulating Sarah on this well-deserved recognition!

Good evening Parkside families!
First, I would like to mention that we still have spots in the Parkside After School Cafe Program. If your student would benefit from extra time to make up missing work, we will have the After School Cafe Program running on Tuesday's and Thursday's starting October 27th for 4 weeks. Next, our first Parkside Parent day is this Thursday beginning at 8 a.m. in the Library.

Today marks the final day of Hispanic Heritage Month, but the learning and celebration do not end here.

Over the past month, we’ve explored the history behind Hispanic Heritage Month, celebrated traditions and culture, and highlighted just a few of the many Hispanic and Latino individuals whose achievements have made a lasting impact in science, education, sports, and beyond.

Hispanic and Latino communities have helped shape our country through generations of leadership, creativity, service, innovation, and perseverance.

🧡 At Jackson Public Schools, we are proud to celebrate the many histories, cultures, and voices that strengthen our schools and our community.

A total of 21 JPS staff members and administrators have been trained as trainers in Restorative Practices for our district!

We had an amazing three days of learning, connecting, and building relationships. We are excited to bring this knowledge back to our schools to strengthen relationships, build community, and foster a positive school climate across Jackson Public Schools.

A special thank you to Neutral Zone for three impactful days of learning and growth!
