Your Jackson Hole fire fighters have had 4 fires in 5 days. We want to remind you that early activation of 911 and having members at the station ready to respond helped keep these fires contained to the area of origin. Support your local fire fighters and keep fast response to your emergencies a priority.

Funeral and Procession Set for Captain Mike Tepe

A funeral procession and service for Jackson Hole Fire / EMS Captain Mike Tepe has been set for Saturday, October 14.

A procession into Jackson will begin at the Wilson Fire Station (2505 Moose Wilson Road) at 2:00 pm. A funeral service will be held following the procession at the Conference Center of Jackson Hole (920 West Broadway) which is slated to start at 3:00 pm.

“This is a sad and somber time for the Tepe family, our agency and the community as a whole,” said Fire Chief Brady Hansen. “We have known for a while that this day was coming. As a department we have begun planning for a memorial service and a tribute to Captain Tepe. I would ask that our community go the extra mile to look out for one another during this time.”

Family, invited friends, fire apparatus and first responder vehicles will be involved in the motorized procession from Wilson into Jackson. The general public is asked not to drive or enter a vehicle in the procession; however, they are encouraged to line the procession route and show their respect for Captain Tepe and his family.

Due to the type of cancer that Captain Tepe faced, this is considered by the State of Wyoming as an “In the Line of Duty Death.” A showing of ladder trucks and other fire apparatus is expected to honor Tepe and his ashes will be transported on a special fire truck from Wilson into Jackson.

More information about the funeral procession and service will be forthcoming as plans are finalized. Please contact Kelli Fennessey or Shannon Burns with Jackson Hole Fire / EMS at (307)733-4732 with questions.

It is with great sadness that we share that our Brother firefighter, an Engineer/EMT, a husband and a father, a son, a friend, Aaron Booker has passed away. His battle with job-related cancer leaves us with an empty heart. We ask that all of Cheyenne, and everyone who Aaron has impacted, keep his family in your hearts during this time.

Rest easy, Brother. We have it from here.

Your JH Firefighters have responded to 3 structure fires in the last 30 days. Early detection and fast response has stopped the fire from progressing to the whole structure. Having firefighters available 24/7 is vital to that response. On any day there are a minimum of 7 career firefighters guaranteed ready to respond within minutes to your emergency.

Thank you Jackson Hole Professional Fire Fighters IAFF Local 5067 for your endorsement. I am honored to have your support.

Our firefighters and emergency responders make incredible sacrifices to serve and protect our community. I know firsthand.

When I was 8 years old, our home burned down. It was a gut-punch for my mom, a single parent, and my brother and me. The professional and volunteer firefighters who were first on the scene did much more than just put out the flames—they provided comfort in a time of need.

If elected, I look forward to fighting for our critical workers, and all of our working class. That means:

- Getting workforce housing in the ground for our critical workers.
- Healthcare that’s affordable and accessible.
- Competitive pay and benefits to help retain emergency personnel.
- Direct relationships with frontline workers to ensure their voice is heard.

I am honored to have the Jackson Hole Professional Firefighters’ support, and I humbly ask for your vote on or before November 8.

Firefighters and emergency medical technicians risk their lives to protect our community and to help injured people. As a county commissioner for the past three and a half years, I have learned firsthand the extent to which they train constantly and bring a high level of expertise and preparation to the work they do to protect our community. They make an extraordinary sacrifice.

For these reasons, I am incredibly proud that the Jackson Hole Professional Fire Fighters IAFF Local 5067 has endorsed me to be re-elected for another four years on the Teton County Board of County Commissioners.

“We have a long history with Luther, we endorsed him in his first election and, since becoming county commissioner, he has been an incredible advocate for firefighters. Everything from air quality in the station to our recent push in the county for fair and equitable wages — he was our number one supporter in all of those.

Going forward, we are especially backing Luther because of his strong support for housing the workforce. We face a huge challenge recruiting and retaining qualified people to be in our department because of a lack of workforce housing. His work for housing that is truly affordable for local workers is a big plus for us.”
