Gann Fire Response — Neighbors Helping Neighbors ❤️🐴🐐🐑
As the Gann Fire impacted Calaveras County, E.T.A. Evacuation Teams of Amador was called to assist — and our volunteers went to work.
At the direction of Amador County OES and CAL FIRE, E.T.A. worked alongside Calaveras County Animal Control, helping evacuate livestock and pets from threatened areas. While a small number of animals were sheltered at the E.T.A. Evacuation Center, much of our work took place in the field — going where we were needed and helping get animals out safely.
Our work didn’t stop with evacuation. Volunteers also conducted welfare checks on animals that remained behind, making sure they had food and water and were cared for while their owners were displaced.
The photos in this album show only a small part of what happens during an animal evacuation — catching and loading animals, transporting them to safety, feeding, watering, checking properties and caring for animals until the danger passes.
THANK YOU to our E.T.A. volunteers who answered the call, worked in the heat and kept going wherever they were needed. We are incredibly grateful for the cooperation and teamwork of Calaveras County Animal Control, Amador County OES, CAL FIRE and all of the agencies and responders working the Gann Fire.
And to the animal owners who trusted us with their animals during an incredibly stressful time — thank you for putting your trust in our teams.
