Mississippi Black Leadership Summit

Mississippi Black Leadership Summit Examining strategies and creating solutions to the myriad of public policy issues facing communities. October 30-31, 2014 - Jackson, MS

In 2007, ago a small group of elected and appointed officials joined the NAACP in a roundtable discussion on leadership. A monthly luncheon evolved from that gathering aimed at cultivating strategic alliances. The vision would see Mississippi’s more than 900 African American elected and appointed officials mobilized once a year to examine strategies and create solutions to the myriad of public pol

icy issues facing communities. As a result, the first Mississippi Black Leadership Summit was held in 2008 convening members of the Legislative Black Caucus, Black Mayor’s Association, Minority Caucus of Supervisors, MBC LEO, Black Sheriff’s Association, Partners in Education, Partners in the Judiciary, Tax Assessors and Collectors, and Chancery and Circuit Clerks. The unique statewide forum drills down to the issues of the day through a combination of power panels and issue forums, and features national and local experts.
