What’s the Difference Between the Meetings?

Regular Board Meeting: This is where official City business is discussed and formal action is taken on matters affecting our community.

Study Session: The Study Session provides the Mayor and Board of Aldermen an opportunity to discuss upcoming projects, review information, and prepare for future decisions. While formal votes are not taken during this session, these discussions play an important role in the City's decision-making process.

When is trick-or-treating? Halloween. Just like always.
What if it’s on a weekday? Yep. That’s how calendars work. 📅
What if it’s on a Saturday? EVEN BETTER!

📣 A Friendly Reminder from the City of Jackson, Missouri

Halloween is Saturday, October 31, 2026! The City of Jackson does not officially designate Halloween as a city holiday, nor does it regulate trick-or-treating. There are no official start or end times, and the City does not set an alternate date.

That means families can make their own plans! We simply encourage everyone to use good judgment when deciding when and where to trick-or-treat.

🚔 The City will provide additional police and public safety patrols to help keep everyone safe. Please remember to: 🍬 Watch for children and pedestrians. 💡 Wear bright or reflective clothing and carry flashlights. 🚗 Drive slowly and stay alert in neighborhoods. 👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 Make safe choices and look out for one another.

The City of Jackson has been notified that several customers received a text message and/or a phone call regarding a trash collection “Suspension Warning.”

We understand the message appears to have been sent by Waste Connections regarding a billing issue. Waste Connections is a private company. If you have a private Waste Connections service account and have questions or concerns about your account, please contact Waste Connections directly at 573-271-3803.

Please be advised that the City of Jackson, Missouri, is not affiliated with Waste Connections. The City operates its own Sanitation Department and collects residential trash independently.

✅ If you are a City of Jackson residential trash customer, no action or response is needed regarding this message.

The Jackson Police Department, in partnership with the Drug Enforcement Administration, is hosting the upcoming National Prescription Drug Take Back Day this fall.

Date: Saturday, October 24th
Time: 10:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m.
Location: Jackson Police Department Lobby
202 W. Jackson Blvd., Jackson, MO

What You Can Bring:

Tablets
Capsules
Patches
Other solid prescription medications

What’s NOT Accepted
Liquids (including IV solutions)
Syringes or sharps
Illegal drugs

This free and anonymous event provides a safe, secure way to dispose of unused or expired medications—helping prevent misuse, accidental poisoning, and overdose.

Drop-off is quick and easy: just bring your items to the collection bin in the police department lobby during event hours. No questions asked.

Need a Halloween costume? Stop by the Costume Cauldron to pick out a FREE Halloween costume!

🍬 Uptown Jackson Trunk or Treat | 5:30–7:30 PM
Then head over to South High Street for an evening of trick-or-treating fun!

🎃 FINAL WEEK TO DONATE! 🎃
The Costume Cauldron drive is in its final week! We’re collecting gently used Halloween costumes through October 16. Donations can be dropped off at any of the locations listed on the flyer, including City Hall.

📦 The team will visit all drop-off locations on October 16 to collect donations, so there’s still time to help make Halloween special for local students!
