Fire Chief RaSean O. Thomas opened today’s staff meeting with prayer, putting God first as we prepare for another week of serving our firefighters, our department, and the citizens of Jackson.

Prayer reminds us that leadership is more than making decisions, it’s about seeking God’s wisdom, strength, guidance, and understanding as we navigate the challenges and opportunities before us.

As we continue to lead, serve, and move forward together, may God continue to bless the men and women of the Jackson Fire Department and the communities we proudly serve.

I want to take a moment to say THANK YOU to the men and women of the Jackson Fire Department for your continued hard work, dedication, and commitment to serving our great city.

Each of you represents the Jackson Fire Department every time you put on the uniform. You are ambassadors of this department, and I truly appreciate the way you continue to show up, serve, and make a difference in our community.

Over the past year, we have learned, grown, and accomplished a great deal together. The progress we are making is a reflection of your commitment to growth, excellence, accountability, and service.

As we continue this journey, there will be more hurdles to overcome and mountains to climb. But I believe that when we lead with integrity, patience, communication, and respect for one another, there is no challenge we cannot overcome.

The men and women of this great department are counting on each of us to do our part and help move the Jackson Fire Department forward. Our best days are still ahead of us!

The bunker room at Fire Station 1 has been restored by the dedicated members of Rescue 1 – A Shift, led by Lieutenant Jon Roberson. Their hard work, teamwork, and commitment has updated this space demonstrating what ownership, pride, and teamwork looks like!

Another improvement for our Jackson Fire Department family! A brand-new stove has been installed at Fire Station 20, providing our members with an updated and reliable appliance for their station kitchen.

We’re continuing to invest in our fire stations and improve the working environment for the men and women who serve our community 24/7.

As we close out another week, I want to take a moment to sincerely thank the men and women of the Jackson Fire Department for your dedication, commitment, and service to our community.

This was certainly a challenging week, but we are resilient! God has called us to be “more than conquerors.” Through every challenge, you continue to answer the call and serve with professionalism, compassion, and excellence.

From participating in budget hearings and advocating for the resources needed to better serve our community, to answering emergency calls, educating our community about fire safety in child care facilities, sharpening iron with former JFD Fire Chief Simpson, completing air-conditioning and stucco upgrades at our firehouses, engaging with our community at the Grandparents Do Matter event, and meeting with fire apparatus vendors to explore opportunities for the future, it was truly a great week of service!

Most importantly, we continue to lift up our two firefighters who were injured in the line of duty. We are grateful that they are recovering well, and we continue to pray for their complete and continued healing. 🙏🏾

To every member of the JFD family: THANK YOU! 🙏🏾 Your hard work does not go unnoticed. Your commitment to the citizens of Jackson matters, and together we will continue moving this department forward.

Have a safe, restful, and blessed weekend. Take time to recharge with family and friends, because Monday is coming, and we will hit the ground running!

Members of the Jackson Fire Department, along with other public officials, had the honor of serving as celebrity waiters at the Grandparents Do Matter Event, sponsored by Mrs. Nancy Gaynor.

We truly appreciate the opportunity to serve, celebrate, and show our love and appreciation for our grandparents. Your wisdom, love, sacrifices, and contributions have helped shape our families and our communities.

Thank you for allowing us to be a part of such a special occasion. Grandparents DO Matter! ❤️
