While C1 was out in the district, he ran up on District 2 Fire Chief Dorsey Hamlin at station 12 going above and beyond the call of duty. While leading his district 2 crew, he took the initiative to personally pressure wash the engine room floor to help keep the station clean, professional, and inspection ready.

Thank you, Chief Hamlin, for setting the standard and showing that no task is too small when it comes to serving our firefighters and our community. 🔥

‼️JFD Weekly Staff Meeting‼️

Fire Chief Thomas opened our weekly staff meeting with prayer, seeking wisdom, guidance, and unity as we continue serving the citizens of Jackson.

During our meeting, we were also honored to recognize Supervisor Willie Brown with a Certificate of Achievement for his dedication, commitment, and outstanding service.

‼️Weather Safety Announcement‼️

The Jackson Fire Department reminds all residents to remain vigilant as heavy rainfall and the potential for flash flooding move into our area.

Flash floods can develop quickly and create dangerous conditions on roadways. We strongly encourage everyone to avoid flooded streets, obey all barricades, and postpone unnecessary travel when possible.

Remember: Turn Around, Don’t Drown. Just a few inches of moving water can sweep away a vehicle.

In addition to the threat of flooding, extreme heat remains a concern this weekend. Please check on elderly family members, neighbors, and anyone who may not have reliable access to air conditioning. Don’t forget to ensure pets have plenty of water and shelter from the heat.

The Jackson Fire Department is monitoring conditions and stands ready to serve our community. We ask everyone to stay informed, stay prepared, and make safety your top priority.

Another great week of service in the books! We are grateful for the dedication, professionalism, and hard work demonstrated by every member of our department.

From productive staff meetings and responding to emergency calls, to public relations efforts at our fire stations, this week reflected our continued commitment to serving the citizens of Jackson. We also celebrated the addition of new positive pressure ventilation fans to enhance our emergency response capabilities and the installation of new engine room bay doors as we continue improving our facilities.

As we close out the week, we proudly celebrate Juneteenth and reflect on the importance of freedom, unity, and community.

Thank you to all of our firefighters, officers, civilian staff, and community partners for your unwavering support.

Battling Fire Through the Storm 🌧️

Rain or shine, the men and women of the Jackson Fire Department stand ready to answer the call. Today, firefighters worked diligently under challenging weather conditions to safely extinguish a structure fire. Thanks to their professionalism, teamwork, and dedication, the fire was brought under control with no reported injuries.

While many seek shelter from the storm, our firefighters run toward the emergency to protect lives and property.

Equipment Upgrade Enhancing Fireground Operations 🚒

The Jackson Fire Department is proud to announce the addition of six new Super Vac Positive Pressure Ventilation (PPV) fans that will be assigned to our ladder trucks.

These fans are a valuable tool that helps firefighters improve visibility, remove heat, smoke, and toxic gases from structures, and create safer working conditions during fire suppression and rescue operations. This upgrade strengthens our operational readiness and enhances our ability to protect both our firefighters and the citizens we serve.
