By now I hope you all are enjoying this months book "Night Circus"
November book is by Allen Eskins, The Life we Bury.
Our next meeting is Oct. 26th from 5:30 to 7:30 at the Meijer branch library. Feel free to invite a friend, we have room for a few new members.
It was brought to my attention that members may want to bring their child/children. When setting up this book club it was decided this was an evening out with adults in addition to a literary book club. I apologize in advance if this offends anyone, it's not meant to. The early evening time frame was set with mothers of young children in mind, or older people who are in their pajama's by 8:30 at night!
Ha HA HA!!
I am excited to see what passing dishes we have for this book......
"OK, who's bringing the orange Circus Peanuts" LOL

What's your thoughts on our last book Light between oceans?

09/28/2016

I sent everyone an email with info on our first travel trip for 2017. PLEASE post your preference on this site. I was thinking spring...?? We leave on a Saturday morning and come back Sunday. We can carpool, my van seats 7. If you want to stay longer that day or another night please let me know so I can accommodate you.
If you are unable to make it to the meeting tonight, I encourage you to post on here your thoughts/comments on our first book "Light Between Oceans"
It will be exciting to see the opinions and conversation on here......

Our book club motto:
NO apologies necessary:
If you can’t make it to the meeting or haven’t finished the book or don’t have any foodie dish to share (there will always be plenty) no apology necessary……..

Our next book, Night Circus by Erin Morgenstern will be handed out at the library tonight or you can get it from me at your convenience.

Happy reading!!!

Only 9 days until our first book club meeting!! YAY
Looks like Australia is our "geographical" passing dish.
Feel free to post any ideas. I'm bringing Aussie Fries.
PLEASE collaborate with someone to create a dish.
It will be more cost effective and fun.
Reminder: The library supplies all our paper plates, silverware, napkins, seasonings and cups each month.
(not sure about serving spoons)
If you don't have a "foodie" partner contact me.

This morning Paula McLain confirmed a skype interview with us on Feb. 22 at 6:00 p.m. She is offering 30-45 minutes of her time for questions.
The library will assist in putting her up on the big screen so we can all see/talk to her.
That means The Paris Wife will be our Feb. book and handed out at our January 2017 meeting.
At our meeting Wednesday, September 28th (5:30 - 7:30) you will receive October's book which is The Night Circus.
*We moved this book up a month, due to reading Paula McLain's novel, the month we interview her.

Happy Reading!!!!!!!

The movie, The Light Between Oceans did not come to Jackson. It is however playing in East Lansing. I've talked to Scott the manager of NCG Eastwood Cinemas and because the movie is so popular, he is 90% sure the movie will be playing on "bargain Tuesday" September 27th. It is $5 all day, $2 popcorn w/free refills and other food deals........
I have a mini van that can seat 7.
Please decide soon if you want to go see the movie so we can plan.
Of course anyone can go when it fits their schedule but it would be fun and cost effective to "car pool"
I hope by now you are all enjoying the book. Some of you have finished, I am not one of them! LOL
Happy Reading!!

Good Morning!!
I received an email from author Paula McLain (The Paris Wife) yesterday.
She explained that she loves making time for book clubs, regarding our request for a Skype interview. COOL!!!!
Having said that , she will be in Connecticut for business on our October 26th meeting date.
SO, with everyone's approval I will move around our monthly reading order to accommodate Paula McLain.
The Library has offered to set up our Skype interviews on the "Big Screen"
I can't say enough how generous the Librarian's have been with the "Let us know what you need" attitude.
