This week, we recognize National Crime Victims’ Rights Week, observed April 19–25, 2026.

The theme, “Listen. Act. Advocate.”, highlights the importance of supporting victims of crime through awareness, action, and community partnerships. The California Highway Patrol is committed to standing alongside victims and ensuring their voices are heard.

If you or someone you know has been affected by crime, resources and support are available. Together, we can make a difference by listening, taking action, and advocating for those in need.

Can't wait to see everyone this weekend at this great event. Come by and say hello at our booth!

Yesterday, Amador County Probation Officers were out making house calls. During a search of an offender's residence in Jackson, they located a small baggie of fentanyl along with the usual tools of the trade associated with illegal drug use. After seizing the contraband, processing and booking the evidence, a violation was filed with the Court. A big thanks to the Amador County Combined Narcotics Enforcement Team for their assistance in testing the fentanyl.

Probation Officers regularly encounter fentanyl, methamphetamine, and other dangerous drugs during the course of their duties. We are consistently working with our law enforcement and community partners in eradicating these substances from our county.

The Probation Department provides a broad array of services to Amador County, none more important than public safety. This morning the Probation Department participated in a Wildland Fire Safety training in Jackson, provided by Amador Fire.

Along with members from several of our local law enforcement partners, we were updated on community evacuation procedures, officer safety, communications, incident command, and life-saving equipment (including the shown orange personal fire shelters).

Over the last decade, the Probation Department has assisted the Amador and El Dorado County Sheriff's Offices in numerous emergency fire evacuations, including the Electra Fire, the Tiger Fire, the Caldor Fire, the Irish Fire, and the Butte Fire.

Training is a critical piece of the Probation Department's readiness and ability to serve the citizens of the county. Officers attend training year-round, which focus on all aspects public safety and offender rehabilitation.

The sun was shining yesterday as we hosted our tattoo removal event at the Probation Department in Jackson.
Lots of unwanted ink was zapped away, and nobody cried, thanks to Ink off Me and their highly skilled technicians.

This is a great opportunity, rehabilitative or otherwise, for anyone in our community to have an unwanted tattoo removed free of charge.
If you missed it, don't worry, we have another scheduled for May 5!

Play ball! Today the Probation Department's juvenile community service crew collaborated with the Amador County Parks and Recreation Department to help get Pioneer Park ready for baseball season. These young men put in a full day's work raking, sweeping and hauling a large amount debris from the field and surrounding area. Big thanks to Supervisor Jeff Brown D3 Supervisor for suggesting the work site.

The Probation Department is committed to instilling positive change in the youth we supervise. Participating in community service is an important component for many youth on supervision, as it can instill personal growth, foster a stronger work ethic, and improve the quality and beauty of Amador County for all to enjoy.
