We are proud to recognize Sarah Ludwig, Principal of Hunt Elementary, for receiving a special letter of recognition and appreciation from the City of Jackson Fire Department.

Sarah was recognized for her dedication to fire and risk prevention, her commitment to student and staff safety, and her partnership in helping to bring the Sound-Off Program into JPS schools. Her work has helped strengthen safety education and prevention efforts across the district.

The Fire Department shared that Sarah’s efforts have made a meaningful difference not only at Hunt Elementary, but throughout Jackson Public Schools and the wider community.

Hispanic Heritage Month: Celebrating the Legacy

Today marks the final day of Hispanic Heritage Month, but the learning and celebration do not end here.

Over the past month, we’ve explored the history behind Hispanic Heritage Month, celebrated traditions and culture, and highlighted just a few of the many Hispanic and Latino individuals whose achievements have made a lasting impact in science, education, sports, and beyond.

Hispanic and Latino communities have helped shape our country through generations of leadership, creativity, service, innovation, and perseverance.

🧡 At Jackson Public Schools, we are proud to celebrate the many histories, cultures, and voices that strengthen our schools and our community.

✨ Heritage is something we honor today — and continue learning from all year long.

A total of 21 JPS staff members and administrators have been trained as trainers in Restorative Practices for our district!

We had an amazing three days of learning, connecting, and building relationships. We are excited to bring this knowledge back to our schools to strengthen relationships, build community, and foster a positive school climate across Jackson Public Schools.

A special thank you to Neutral Zone for three impactful days of learning and growth!

Hispanic Heritage Spotlight: Jaime Escalante 📚

Today we’re highlighting Jaime Escalante, a Bolivian-American educator who became known for believing in his students, setting high expectations, and showing what young people can achieve with the right support.

Escalante taught advanced mathematics and AP Calculus at Garfield High School in East Los Angeles. He challenged students to take on rigorous coursework and encouraged them to believe in their own potential.

His dedication helped students achieve remarkable success and inspired educators across the country.

✨ Jaime Escalante’s legacy is a powerful reminder that great teachers can change lives by believing in students, encouraging them, and challenging them to reach higher.

Hispanic Heritage Spotlight: Roberto Clemente ⚾

Today we’re highlighting Roberto Clemente, a legendary baseball player whose impact reached far beyond the field.

Born in Puerto Rico, Clemente became one of Major League Baseball’s greatest players and was the first Latin American player inducted into the National Baseball Hall of Fame.

He was known not only for his incredible talent, but also for his commitment to helping others. Clemente regularly supported humanitarian efforts and used his platform to serve communities in need.

His legacy continues to inspire generations through excellence, compassion, leadership, and service.
