Kentucky River Regional Prevention Center The RPC assists individuals and groups in developing prevention programs that will encourage healthy choices about alcohol, tobacco, and other drugs.

We provide education, training programs, information, and consultation services. The Kentucky River RPC plans and promotes comprehensive substance use/abuse, suicide, violence, bullying, and homelessness prevention services in its eight-county region, and promotes mental health.

Today is National Gun Violence Awareness Day.

Gun violence continues to impact families and communities across Kentucky every single day. According to recent data, Kentucky ranks among the states with some of the highest firearm death rates in the country, and fi****ms remain a leading cause of death for young people.

Awareness, prevention, education, and safe storage save lives. Even small steps can make a difference.

The RPC currently has a limited number of free gun locks available for anyone who may need one. If you or someone you know could benefit from a gun lock for safer firearm storage, please reach out.

Today is World Narcissistic Abuse Awareness Day.

Narcissistic abuse can be difficult to recognize because it often begins subtly through manipulation, control, and emotional harm. Some common traits associated with narcissistic behavior may include:

• Gaslighting and making others question their reality
• Lack of empathy
• Constant need for attention or validation
• Manipulation and guilt-tripping
• Controlling behaviors
• Blaming others and refusing accountability
• Love bombing followed by emotional withdrawal
• Excessive criticism, jealousy, or possessiveness

These patterns can leave deep emotional and psychological effects on survivors. Raising awareness helps people recognize unhealthy dynamics, seek support, and understand that emotional abuse should never be normalized.
