FELONY ARREST: Wesley Lamar Coggins

On Friday May 22, 2026 at approximately 8:30pm Jackson's Gap Officers were patrolling the area of Peckerwood Rd in the area of Co Rd 40 when a white male later identified as Wesley Lamar Coggin was observed driving a small go-kart on the roadway, there were two young juveniles in the passenger seat. The go cart was in a lane of traffic and had no proper lighting equipment of safety equipment. Officers attempting to stop the go-kart, but Coggin continued to drive, during that he was observed by officers leaning over the juveniles on the passenger side and throwing a small plastic baggy out of the go-kart, Coggin stopped a short time later. Upon contact with Coggin he was detained and it was determined that the two juveniles in the go-kart were 7 and 8 in did not have any safety equipment and unsecured in the passenger seat. Officers were able to recover the plastic baggy that Coggin tossed before stopping, it was determined that the baggy contained methamphetamine.

Coggin was arrested for Possession of Controlled Substance, Attempting to Elude, Reckless Endangerment, and Endangering the Welfare of a Child x 2.

Coggin's actions put two young children as well as others in danger. As an adult you make your on decisions, but it is unacceptable to put children in a dangerous situation that they have no control over.
