Research consistently shows that children who grow up in families where difficult topics can be discussed openly develop better emotional regulation, stronger problem-solving skills, and more resilience. This article shares five family discussions that foster empathy, resilience, and healthy communication in a screen-heavy world. A worthwhile read for anyone raising or working with children.

We hear about the academic 'summer slide,' but there's a quieter one worth watching too: the mental health slide that can happen when structure disappears overnight.

Kids feel safest when their day has a shape they can predict. A loose rhythm of a wake-up routine, meals, movement, downtime, and a consistent bedtime gives children the steadiness their brains crave. (Flexible, not rigid, is the goal.)

A huge thank you to Seaside Power Yoga for choosing us as their nonprofit partner for May! Every Sunday, their 10am class doubles as a fundraiser for a local nonprofit, and we're so grateful they once again chose to support our work. A special thanks to co-owner Erin for her thoughtful words about CGC and for giving our Board Chair, Eliot, a few minutes to share about our work during last Sunday's practice. Communities like this are what make Jacksonville so special. Thank you, Seaside Power Yoga! 🧘

It's Mental Health Awareness Month, so let's talk about therapy! There are so many different types, and knowing what's out there can help you find what fits. Some approaches focus on changing negative thought patterns (CBT), others bring the whole family into the conversation (Family Therapy), and some teach skills for managing intense emotions or crisis moments (DBT), plus so many more!

Check out our blog about 8 common types of therapy and what each one offers: cgcjax.org/8-common-types-of-therapy

This week marks Youth Mental Health Awareness Week here in Florida, and May is also National Teen Self-Esteem Month. Both are reminders that mental wellness and self-confidence go hand in hand! When teens feel good about themselves, they're better able to handle stress, build healthy relationships, and ask for help when they need it.

Parents and caregivers, one of the most powerful things you can do is have open conversations that help teens recognize their worth. Need some guidance? Check out this guide: https://ow.ly/PB3250YXOXq

Listen up, parents. I’m going to be honest with you. In 2026, bringing up a teenager is akin to stumbling around a minefield wearing a blindfold.
