Grandmaster’s,
Hurricane Dorian has passed and as of 1100L this morning we are re-manning all squadron watches. As you make your way back to the squadron please exercise extreme caution as those some areas did receive damage and may have downed trees and powerlines.

Plan for tomorrow to be a single shift showing at the normal time of 0900 for all hands. If you need extra time to return or have sustained damage to your home or property and need assistance, please reach out to your chain of command or call the quarterdeck so we can assist you.

As a reminder, government travel cards were authorized only for evacuation expenses and should not be used once you have returned from your evacuation.

Travel safe and we will see you tomorrow morning!

As the evacuation orders have been lifted per-diem and lodging will not be granted for extended stays after the storm. Families are encouraged to return as safely as they can. For those families in need of assistance filing travel claims, stay tuned to the ombudsman page and we will pass information out on how and when assistance will be available in submitting those forms, be sure to save any lodging receipts you may have received.

From the desk of Commander, Navy Region Southeast, Rear Admiral Gary Mayes:
With Hurricane Dorian roaring up the coast of Florida, as well as Georgia and South Carolina, I want to remind our Navy families to monitor the storm and keep safety as your highest priority. The storm conditions continue to worsen and pose significant risk to life and safety. Given the mandatory evacuations from civilian authorities I have authorized the evacuation of non-essential active duty military, drilling reservists, civilian employees and authorized dependents in those affected areas. For those in Florida, the mandatory evacuation areas include Brevard, Duval, Flagler, Indian River, Martin, Nassau, Palm Beach, Putman, St. Johns, St. Lucie and Volusia counties. The designated safe haven south of Interstate 4 is within 100 miles of Tampa and north of Interstate 4 is within 150 miles of Tallahassee. For those in Georgia, the evacuation orders include Bryan, Camden, Chatham, Glynn, Liberty and McIntosh counties. The designated safe haven is within 150 miles of Atlanta. For those residing in South Carolina, the evacuation orders include Beaufort, Berkeley, Charleston, Colleton, Dorchester, Georgetown, Horry and Jasper counties. The designated safe haven is within 150 miles of Columbia. These mandatory evacuations also include personnel aboard Navy bases in affected areas.
Do not wait for orders to evacuate. If you are covered by my authorization, evacuation orders will be issued by your parent command, but that can be done after you are safe. Evacuees are authorized reimbursement for travel, lodging, and per diem at the approved rate for your designated safe haven.
If you live in town, pay attention to your local news and follow the advice of local officials and emergency managers. If you live in a low-lying area, heed any calls to evacuate and follow the recommendations of the local emergency managers. We will continue to have first responders and shelters on the base for our personnel, will monitor the situation closely, and immediately pass word if there are any changes.
By tomorrow morning, Naval Station Mayport, Naval Air Station Jacksonville and Naval Submarine Base Kings Bay will be open to mission essential personnel only. I ask that all our Navy family exercise utmost caution and frequently check command websites and pages for updated information. We should all remember the Navy's mission to keep the safety of all hands as our number one priority. Thank you.

Grandmaster Families,
Please find the evacuation orders listed below.

If you are a dependent of an Active Duty Service Member and live in a mandatory evacuation zone (designated by local city/state authorities) in Palm Beach, Martin, St Lucie, Brevard, Volusia, St Johns and Duval County. You are authorized per-diem and lodging if you evacuate to one of the designated safe-haven evacuation zones.

If for some reason you are unable to find lodging within the designated safe-havens, you will be reimbursed up to the prescribed per-diem rates for Tallahassee or Tampa.

If you are in a mandatory evacuation zone (North of I-4) your designated safe-haven evacuation area is Tallahassee and the area within 150 miles around Tallahassee.

If you are in a mandatory evacuation zone (South of I-4) your designated safe-haven evacuation area is Tampa and the area within 100 miles around Tampa.

This is not preventing anyone in a non-designated area from evacuating, but those that chose to evacuate may not be reimbursed for their per-diem and lodging expenses.

For anyone unsure if you are in an evacuation area please use the below website for assistance.

Grandmaster Family,

Hurricane Dorian update:

All Grandmaster Aircraft along with 44 other Aircraft from our Sister Squadrons have landed safely in Alabama. Outstanding job by ALL Grandmasters who supported the efforts in preparing the aircraft for evacuation and preparing the squadron spaces for the potential impact of this hurricane.

As of this message:
1. Clay, St. John’s, and Duval counties have all canceled school for Tuesday and Wednesday.
2. St. John’s and Duval have ordered evacuations for Zones A & B.
Multiple ways to find evacuation zones:JAXREADY App or this link http://www.coj.net/departments/fire-and-rescue/emergency-preparedness/get-prepared/evacuation-zones.aspx are useful.

That being said for this week the squadron will follow the following schedule:
Monday: Phone Muster 0800-0900
Tuesday: Phone Muster 0800-0900
Wednesday: Phone Muster 0800-0900
Thursday: TBD if clear expect single shift 0900 show
Friday: TBD if clear expect single shift 0900 show

***** Grandmasters in Alabama with Evacuation you are TDY please muster with your chain of command there.******

For Evacuations:

As previously discussed reimbursement for evacuation is only authorized if in a city mandatory evacuation zone. Please do not let that be the only factor in your decision to evacuate. Make the safest decision for you and your families. There are services like Navy Marine Corps Relief that can provide financial support. If you choose to evacuate regardless of, if mandatory or not, please notify your LPO of intended destination and update them once safe at your destination.

For our Families of those deployed or those supporting evacuation to Alabama the above applies. I ask that you notify the Ombudsman or SDO of your intended destination or any need for support as necessary.

SDO duty phone is: 904-463-2488

Please be safe.

Sincerely
Skipper, XO, CMC and our families

Grandmaster Family,

What a day! First with the USS Bainbridge in the news I want to let everyone know that our Sailors are most importantly safe and doing great! Det-2 on the Bainbridge is not alone out there as all of our detachments are supporting the mission and doing an OUTSTANDING job! Please be patient as communication can be limited during times like this.
Secondly, thank you to MWR and all the sailors that made today’s picnic so successful! It was great to see all the families that joined us, but it was exceptionally special to see those families of our Sailors that are deployed. I appreciate the role that our Ombudsman and FRG played in getting the word out to all the families.

I look forward to the next opportunity to get the Grandmaster Family together!

Happy Father’s Day!

Sincerely
Skipper

Grandmaster Family,

Today we have 4 detachments with 114 sailors deployed. We think about them every day. We miss them every day! Today is Memorial Day. A day we traditionally celebrate with family and friends enjoying the freedoms that we continue to protect! However, let us not forget that Memorial Day is a day specifically taken to remember those that paid the Ultimate Sacrifice for those freedoms! Let us also not forget the sacrifice that our Yellow Ribbon families have made. We are extremely fortunate to have the amazing support and respect we receive from the public today and should never take that for granted.

Thank you for the sacrifice and support you provide for our sailors!

Grandmaster Moms,

Happy Mother’s Day! Thank you for the sacrifices you make everyday that enable your sailors to serve this Great Nation!

Please know that several of the detachments have had significant issues with their ability to communicate via email. The ships are working diligently to fix the issues.

I hope you have had the ability to take even just a few moments for yourself today!

Sincerely
Skipper
