What an incredible honor for PTA!! We officially have our own day 👏🏻💙🐯💛
The City of Jacksonville officially proclaimed May 15, 2026, as Parent Teacher Association Day in recognition of the vital contributions PTAs make in supporting students, families, and schools throughout Duval County.
Today, Charles Griggs, Director of Community Initiatives for the City of Jacksonville, will join the Duval County Council of PTAs at its Annual Presidents and Principals Luncheon to present and read the official proclamation honoring the work and impact of local PTAs across the community.
The celebration brings together representatives from local unit PTAs in Duval County, along with community leaders and education advocates, including Duval County School Board Members Cindy Pearson, Melody Bolduc, Reginald Blount, Anthony Ricardo, and Darryl Willie; Laura Collins representing Florida Representative Jessica Baker; Karen Mazzola, Florida PTA Vice President for Leadership Development; and 2026 Duval County Teacher of the Year Dr. Mari Richardson.
This proclamation recognizes the dedication of PTA leaders, volunteers, educators, and community partners who work tirelessly to ensure every child has the opportunity to succeed.
The Duval County Council of PTAs expresses sincere appreciation to Mayor Donna Deegan and the City of Jacksonville, Florida - Government for acknowledging the collective efforts of PTAs and school communities committed to empowering students and strengthening public education.
This recognition reflects the ongoing mission of PTA organizations throughout Duval County to advocate for children, support families, and make every child’s potential a reality.
