Hello, my name is Carl Robinson. I really enjoy helping people buy or sell their homes and believe that by being knowledgeable about real estate and the moving process, I can help my clients make the best decisions. I was born and raised in Taylor, Texas, where I met my wife. I served as a Marine for 18+ years before permanently settling in Jacksonville. I have experienced the stresses and challenges of moving and I know firsthand how vital it is to have good communication and mutual trust with your real estate agent. As a real estate professional, my goal is to earn your confidence and exceed your expectations. I look forward to helping you find the perfect home or the perfect buyer for your home. I saw two hangars being built in MCAS New River. I was told as soon as the hangers are done, they are going to work on the funds to relocate some marines from Cherry Point over to New River. I also heard MARSOC is getting two new squadrons. Between MCAS New River and MARSOC, about 10,000 military marines are coming to Jacksonville within the next 3 years. Does anyone know anything about this?

I don't know if you know this. We are a retired USMC family and I've been told by DEERS that if I do not show my 6 year old daughter's social security card to them by Sept 2013, she will be cut off from the medical insurance. Also, on Oct 1, 2013 military retirees and their dependents who reside over 40 miles from a military facility will lose their TRICARE Prime and go on TRICARE Standard.

Business in Camp Lejeune is looking good for 2011. Last October Camp Lejeune, MCAS New River and Cherry Point received more than $810 million on construction funding for fiscal year 2011 which is more than $200 million compare to last year. In the last 2 years about 20,000 additional military personnel and dependents arrived here and the bases can’t build fast enough to accommodate the need.

There may be hope for downtown Jacksonville. After many attempts by the city to try to revitalize downtown, I'm starting to see the changes. The new city manager believes in build and they will come that he even bought a lot of land in downtown to build his home. His plan is to improve downtown homes and attract buyers so that businesses will come. You will see major changes within three years.

Cosmo magazine also mentioned Jackosonville as the place to find "hot guys". HELLO??.....the Marines are here. We don't need a magazine to tell us that.

Forbes magazine rated Jacksonville as the best small city to start a business and find a job. According to the local business owners and contractors, Jacksonville is one of the hardest cities to open a business. Little wonder since the city is still run by the "good old boys" network and the city inspectors tend to have frequent memory losses on your building requirments.

If you have not seen the map of Camp Lejeune’s 5th Gate, here it is. What interested me is the B where it shows Brynn Marr Blvd connecting to Ellis Blvd. Don’t be surprised to see some big apartment projects coming up near there.

What is going on? It seems like more Tobacco shops are opening in Jacksonville. Is it because NC just banned smoking in restaurants and most bars that smokers are flocking to Tobacco Shops to hang out with friends and can still legally smoke? The latest Tobacco Shop will be on Western Blvd near Lejeune Blvd, next to the Oriental Market.

If you are using the bridge on Hwy 17 (S Marine Blvd) where Marina Café and Fisherman’s Wharf are located, get ready to find other alternatives. Renovation for the bridge will start in April 2010. It may take about 5 or 6 years to finish the bridge or maybe more.

2,300 Marines and sailors from the 24the MEU headed to Haiti last Wednesday. Also along with them were 10 Ospreys in VMM-162. This deployment will be the first time the Osprey is used in a humanitarian mission. On a personal note, I still think Osprey can’t replace the CH-46. It’s a great aircraft by itself but not as a replacement.

The Grow the Force Initiative will bring 7,700 new Marines to Camp Lejeune through 2012. A three-phase, $200 million construction project will also include a number of projects to improve and enlarge facilities and thoroughfares on base.
