The Jacksonville Fire department established in 1906, have been providing fire protection for the city. In the early 1980's the city also took over the responsibility of the ems coverage, today we have 23 paramedics and 5 emt's that help cover the ambulance's, they are also certified firefighters. The city averages 3400-4000 calls per year, this is covered by 24/7 coverage by the paid staff, there
is also a daytime added ambulance, Monday - Friday that helps cover extra calls and transfers between the hospitals.
