MILITARY PERSONNEL NOTICE: As of 9 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 4, the MCAS New River commanding officer has set Tropical Cyclone Condition 1 Recovery (TCC-IR) with the passing of Hurricane Isaias.

During TCC-IR, the destructive weather event has passed and recovery operations begin. Casualty, damage and other reports are passed to the installation emergency operations center. Although some potential safety and storm hazards remain, air station personnel will begin work to ensure the return of normal operations by eliminating safety concerns, clearing debris, performing essential repairs and re-establishing services and utilities.

All air station staff and tenant commands are requested to inspect their work areas as soon as possible and report any minor damages to your chain of command. Restrictions on non-essential personnel and base residents remain in place until the lifted by the installation emergency operations center. It is important that personnel and residents remain in place while damage assessment teams survey the air station. Dangerous conditions, such as downed trees, flooding, and downed power lines may exist and pose a hazard to untrained personnel.

MILITARY PERSONNEL NOTICE: As of 8 p.m. Monday, Aug. 3, the MCAS New River commanding officer has established Tropical Cyclone Condition 1 Caution (TCC IC) in preparation for any potential impacts from Hurricane Isaias. TCC IC is established when a destructive weather system with sustained winds of 50 knots (58 mph) or greater is forecast to affect the area within 6 hours.

At 8:00 p.m. EDT (0000 UTC), the center of Hurricane Isaias was located by NOAA Doppler weather radars and an Air Force Reserve Hurricane Hunter aircraft near latitude 32.8 North, longitude 79.0 West. Isaias is moving toward the north-northeast near 16 mph (26 km/h), and this general motion accompanied by a gradual increase in forward speed is expected through tonight followed by a further increase in the forward speed on Tuesday. On the forecast track, the center of Isaias will approach the coasts of northeastern South Carolina and southern North Carolina within the hurricane warning area during the next few hours. The center will then move inland across eastern North Carolina early Tuesday morning, move along the coast of the mid-Atlantic states on Tuesday, and continue across the northeastern United States Tuesday night.

All MCAS New River interests should monitor the NOAA NWS National Hurricane Center forecast throughout the weekend and consider possible impacts.
