Today, we recognize Talleyrand Terminal Manager Ron Alford, who recently celebrated 30 years of service at JAXPORT.

Ron joined JAXPORT in 1996 after serving on the Florida Air National Guard’s Facilities Maintenance team at Jacksonville International Airport. Since then, he has held nearly every role within Facilities Maintenance, including technician, foreman and assistant manager, before becoming terminal manager.

Throughout his career, Ron has helped maintain the buildings, infrastructure and critical systems that keep Talleyrand operating safely, reliably and efficiently. He is also known for sharing his extensive institutional knowledge, calmly addressing challenges and mentoring colleagues across departments.

Ron has instilled a simple philosophy within Facilities Maintenance: Every job should be completed with the same care, pride and attention to detail as if it were in your own home.

Ron, thank you for your service to the State of Florida and for 30 years of dedication and leadership at JAXPORT.

Cargo moving through JAXPORT supports local jobs and manufacturing for everyday products used in homes across the country.

Georgia-Pacific is investing $83 million to expand its Palatka mill, one of North Florida’s largest manufacturing facilities. Each year, approximately 75,000 tons of eucalyptus pulp imported from Brazil move through JAXPORT before reaching the mill, where the material is used to manufacture tissue products for household brands.

The expansion includes a new 400,000-square-foot warehouse designed to improve shipping efficiency, strengthen Georgia-Pacific’s supply chain and help products reach retailers more efficiently.

After more than 30 years of service to JAXPORT, Chief Commercial Officer Robert Peek has announced plans to retire in fall 2027.

Throughout his career, Robert has held leadership roles in communications, marketing and business development. His leadership, industry expertise and commitment to JAXPORT have helped strengthen our position as one of the nation’s leading seaports.

As part of our succession planning, industry veteran Bobby Wein has joined JAXPORT as Incoming Chief Commercial Officer. Over the next year, Bobby will work closely alongside Robert to ensure a smooth transition.
