A Chief’s worst nightmare is to receive a phone call informing them that one of their officers has been killed or critically injured in the line of duty protecting the community they serve.
Officers all across this nation put a uniform and badge on every day and walk out the door knowing they may never return to their families. But they do it anyway. They understand the job they do, and they do it with pride.
I can never understand why anyone would pull a weapon on a Police Officer, no matter the circumstances. It seems some in society have lost all respect for human life. Many in our country have no respect for anyone or anything, especially police officers. Imagine for a moment what our society would be without them.
We pray for Sergeant Carter’s family, and his brothers and sisters in blue. We also pray for the critically wounded officer who is fighting for his life, and for his family.
These brave men and women sacrifice so much for so many and I am proud of each and every one who does the job every day to keep our families safe and secure. You have my utmost respect.
“Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called the sons of God” Mathew 5:9
