Due to a postponement with a vendor, the Onslow County Register of Deeds will delay opening to 10AM on Monday, September 28, 2026 (instead of Monday, September 21, 2026). This short delay is necessary for staff to reinstall computer workstations and printers following the completion of safety enhancements to the lobby area.

During the weekend of Saturday, September 26, and Sunday, September 27, crews will be installing upgrades to the front counter area to bring it up to speed with standard courthouse security measures. This includes security-rated glass that will improve safety for both staff and visitors .

Onslow County Government apologizes for any inconvenience this delayed opening may cause and would like to remind citizens that many Register of Deeds' services are available online. This includes marriage licenses, property records search, requesting vital records and more. Visit www.OnslowCountyNC.gov/Register to access online services.

This past week our District (District VII) hosted the North Carolina Association of Registers of Deeds(NCARD)74th Annual Conference in Atlantic Beach at the DoubleTree. I am very thankful and proud to have been able to represent Onslow County and our District!
We worked hard, played a little, and most of all had a great conference, which included Association business, collaboration among fellow Registers and fantastic speakers, such as:
Professor Chuck Szypszak, UNC School of Government;
Jordan M. Ford, Chief Financial Crimes Resource Prosecutor at the NC Conference of District Attorneys;
Bob Slugg and Andrea Davis, Chicago Title VP and State Counsel;
And Glenn Hasteadt, keynote speaker, Author of "The Power in Caring:How Caring Transforms Leadership".

Our District also started NCARDCares, and with this the Association supported Misplaced Mutts of Carteret County, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, volunteer-powered animal rescue.

LABOR DAY HOLIDAY CLOSURES
Most Onslow County Government Offices will be closed Monday, September 7, 2026 in observance of Labor Day.

The Onslow County Solid Waste landfill and all Convenience Site locations will be closed Sept 7. The Landfill will reopen on Tuesday, Sept 8 at 6:30AM and convenience sites will reopen on Wednesday, Sept 9 at 8AM.

Onslow County Senior Services will be closed to the public September 3-7 as staff moves to the renovated location at 4024 Richlands Highway (Onslow Enrichment Center). Regular services will resume Tuesday, September 8, at the new location. The current Senior Services location and the new location will both be closed September 3-7. Responses to phone calls/emails during this time may be delayed.

Onslow County Public Library and Onslow County Museum - North Carolina will be closed Monday, Sept 7 and will reopen Tuesday, Sept 8.

Administrative offices for Onslow County Parks and Recreation will be closed Sept 7. Parks will remain open to the public on Labor Day.

Onslow County Animal Services will be closed Monday, Sept 7 and reopen Tuesday, Sept 8. Animal Control will be responding to emergency calls only on Monday. Call 910-455-0182 for emergency animal calls such as sick/injured pets or severe animal bites.

Onslow County Health Department and Consolidated Human Services will be closed Monday and reopen Tuesday, Sept 8.

Onslow County Register of Deeds will be closed Monday, Sept 7 and reopen Tuesday, Sept 8.

The Onslow County Sheriff's Office and Onslow County Emergency Services will continue to respond to emergency services calls. The Sheriff’s Office administrative office and records unit will be closed Monday and reopen Tuesday. Emergency Services administrative offices will also be closed Monday and reopen Tuesday.

The Department of Social Services will be closed on Labor Day, but if you need to make a Child or Adult Protective Services report, please call the Onslow County Sheriff’s Office at 910 455-3113 and ask to speak to the social worker on-call.
