Celebrating 50 Years of Parks and Recreation! 🌳🎉⛹️‍♂️

Onslow County Parks & Recreation turned 50 years old today and we celebrated with a small flag raising ceremony at Onslow Pines Park. The ceremony was a nod to the official opening of Onslow Pines Park in 1976, which began with the National Anthem and the raising of the flag.

Thank you to Southwest High School Marching Band for providing the music and to our Advisory Board Members for attending. Special thanks to our staff who help maintain the 13 parks throughout the County and plan programming for all residents to enjoy. Stay tuned for more events throughout the year while we celebrate our Golden Anniversary!

We would like to take a moment to say a heartfelt thank you to our wonderful Back to School Bash sponsors, Renewal by Andersen of Wilmington, Marine Federal Credit Union, and Navy Federal Credit Union. Their sponsorships allowed us to provide hundreds of bookbags and school supplies to our community members. We would also like to say thank you to Galilee Missionary Baptist Church for providing free hotdogs, Eyemart Express for providing free glasses cleanings and adjustments, and Simply Physicals for providing free health assessments.

Thank you to everyone who helped us put on such an amazing event! We hope to see you next year too.

Fall Festival is less than a month away!

Come out to see Wilmington's own Port City Rockers perform live from 3-5pm! There will be free rides, pet adoptions available on site, delicious food trucks, axe throwing, a cake walk, and more!

Happy First Day of School everyone! We hope that everyone had a great time at Saturday's Back to School Bash. We definitely did!
