Structure Fire- Furniture Plus
Fire Extinguished

At approximately 1:16 PM on Wednesday, June 3, the Jacksonville Fire Department was dispatched to a working structure fire at Furniture Plus located at 817 North Marine Blvd. Upon arrival it was determined a fire had erupted in one of the business warehouses and was quickly spreading. Additional units were called to respond to the scene including Camp Lejeune Fire & Emergency Services, Onslow County Fire & Rescue, Swansboro Fire Department, Pumpkin Center Fire Department, Richlands Volunteer Fire Department, Half Moon Volunteer Fire Department, Verona Volunteer Fire Department, Rhodestown Volunteer Fire Department, Piney Green Volunteer Fire Department, and the Office of the State Fire Marshal. First responder agencies included Jacksonville Police Department, Onslow County EMS, Onslow County Sheriff’s Office, and Onslow County Emergency Management. Jacksonville Public Services and Transit also provided assistance.

Crews battled the fire for hours and remained on scene overnight to ensure the fire was fully extinguished. At approximately 10 AM on Thursday, June 4, firefighting efforts ceased and investigative personnel took over command.

Congratulations to our 2026 Spring Citizens Academy Graduates! Over the last 8 weeks, participants have learned about public safety services in the City of Jacksonville through conversations with our firefighters, officers, and leaders.

This behind the scenes experience provides our Citizens a close-up look at how our fire department operates, with opportunities to check out our apparatuses, equipment, and have their questions answered by our station experts.

Thank you to everyone who dedicated your time to participating in this experience. We hope you will remain lifelong partners in our Department's mission to protect the lives of our residents and prevent fires in our City.

Stayed tuned to our page for updates on the next academy!

Jacksonville Fire Department Command Staff had the privilege of traveling to our State capital today for NC Fire Service Legislative Day. Fire service leaders from across NC came together with their local legislators to discuss legislation that makes a difference in both our fire service statewide and here at home.

Thank you to Chief Hayes and Chief Jones for representing the City of Jacksonville, and thank you to our local Representatives, Wyatt Gable, Phil Shepard, and Senator Lazzara for your support.

This is proof no two days on the job are ever the same!

Citizens found a baby deer in Station 3 district and brought it by for help.

We thought about keeping it as a station "Dalmatian" but our friends at NC Wildlife had other plans. 😁

We do want to pass along some information from NC Wildlife in case you do find what you believe to be an abandoned or injured wild animal. They do not recommend interacting with wildlife unless absolutely necessary. Specifically with deer, the mom is often nearby but you just can't see her. One of the best options is to move the baby to the forest adjacent to the road and if it's still there after a few hours, then reach out to a Wildlife Rehabilitator in your area or you can reach out to the NC Wildlife Helpline at 866-318-2404 (M-F 8 AM to 5 PM).
