I spoke with a representative from New Jersey American Water, who advised that the water issues experienced today in the area of Half Acre Road, including water pressure issues throughout the Borough and the ongoing running of certain fire hydrants, are related to a project that has been underway at a nearby water tank.

New Jersey American Water is aware of the issues residents have experienced today and appreciates the reports that have come in from the public. The representative also advised that residents may continue to notice pressure-related differences throughout the weekend.

New Jersey American Water is an independent utility provider. The Borough does not oversee the utility. We will, however, continue to communicate concerns brought to our attention by residents to the appropriate representatives.

Today we were proud to celebrate a milestone for one of Jamesburg’s own. On the occasion of his 80th birthday, we presented John Walker Sr. with a proclamation declaring August 19, 2026, “John Walker Day” in the Borough of Jamesburg.

Mr. Walker has dedicated 58 years to the Jamesburg Fire Department and, as its senior-most member, continues answering the call today as an engineer. Over the decades, he has served alongside and mentored generations of Jamesburg firefighters, becoming an important part of the department’s history and our community.

His service represents the very best of what it means to be a good neighbor and citizen, giving his time in service to others.

Happy birthday, Mr. Walker, and thank you for more than half a century of service to Jamesburg! 🚒

Yesterday was a terrible tragedy for Jamesburg. Mr. and Mrs. Dutcher were beloved members of our community, and we join with so many in mourning their passing. Our hearts and prayers are with their loved ones, especially their children Stephanie, Rob, and Tom, as they face an unimaginable loss. The Jamesburg community is here and ready to help in any way we can during this incredibly difficult time.

We also want to thank the Jamesburg Fire Department, Jamesburg Police Department, Monroe Township EMS, all of the mutual aid fire departments that responded, county officials, and every emergency responder and volunteer who answered the call early yesterday morning.

We are deeply grateful for your bravery, quick response, professionalism, and service under extraordinarily difficult circumstances. We also pray for a quick recovery for those who sustained injuries while responding to the fire.

🚨Alert: Please avoid the intersections of Front Street and Gatzmer Avenue and West Railroad Avenue and Front Street as emergency personnel remain on scene following a house fire that began at approximately 1:00 a.m. this morning.

The fire has since been extinguished. However, emergency personnel are expected to remain on scene for the several hours. Please be mindful of the increased emergency vehicle and personnel presence as you travel through this area and, when possible, use an alternate route.

Additional information regarding the incident will be released by the appropriate agencies when it is appropriate to do so.

Thank you to the Jamesburg Fire Department and all surrounding fire companies that responded through mutual aid, as well as the Jamesburg Police Department, Middlesex County, and every other emergency responder who has been on scene since the fire began.

We are grateful to everyone who responded in the early morning hours to assist our community.

Another round of power outages happened late last night as a result of the thunderstorms.

Just spoke with our JCP&L representative, who said that there’s more than 600 customers without power in our area. The outages affecting Jamesburg extend beyond our borders. Crews are actively working to restore service. They are in communication with their substation and estimate that power should be restored later today, though restoration times can change as crews assess damage. Updates will be shared as we receive them.

In the meantime, the Borough Hall Council Chambers/Courtroom will remain open for anyone who needs to charge electronic devices or cool off.

The 250th Anniversary Celebration is still scheduled to take place today from 12:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. at Triangle Park, with activities for children and families.

Today, we celebrate the birth of our nation and honor the freedoms we enjoy thanks to the sacrifices of those who came before us.

While many are enjoying the festivities, the members of the Jamesburg Fire Department remain ready to respond whenever duty calls. We are proud to serve our community today and every day.

From all of us at the Jamesburg Fire Department, we wish everyone a safe, happy, and memorable Fourth of July!

Just spoke with our JCP&L representative regarding the current outages in Jamesburg. At this time, approximately 45 customers are without power, including about 36 customers on Reade Street and Duane Street.

JCP&L crews are actively responding to multiple outages throughout the region. They are first addressing the largest outages affecting several thousand customers and will continue working their way down to the smaller outages. At this point, they estimate it will be at least a few hours before power is restored to the affected areas and potentially could take until tomorrow.

In the meantime, Borough Hall Council Chambers (131 Perrineville Road) will reopen as a cooling center for anyone who needs a place to cool off, charge electronic devices, or have a bottle of water.
