Lithium-ion batteries power so many things we use every day — from phones and e-bikes to tools and scooters. But if damaged, overcharged, or exposed to heat, these batteries can enter what’s called “thermal runaway.”
That means the battery overheats, catches fire, and can even explode — often spreading fire quickly and producing toxic smoke.
👉 Safety Tips:
✅ Only use the charger that came with your device.
✅ Charge batteries on a hard, flat surface — never on beds, couches, or near flammable materials.
✅ Never charge overnight or unattended.
✅ Stop using batteries that are swollen, leaking, or damaged.
✅ Store and charge batteries away from exits and living areas.
If a battery starts to smoke or catches fire — get out and call 911 immediately. Never try to move or handle it.
Let’s all stay safe and prevent lithium-ion battery fires in our homes and community! 💪🔥
