Kentucky is the first state in the nation to recognize food as medicine with a Senate Joint Resolution declaring the commonwealth as a Food is Medicine State!

Hospitals across the state are working with local farmers to provide fresh, nutritious meals as part of patient care — helping patients better manage chronic conditions like diabetes.

This is what innovation in health care looks like!

Hello, my name is Jennifer Knifley. I am the Opioid Liaison for Russell County. Yeah, I know, What is that?!?

I help provide services/resources to help make life easier for you or your loved one(s) that are struggling with addiction. Unfortunately, I know the battle you are facing because I have watched addiction in my own family destroy and separate in so many different ways and it's ugly...its extremely painful...and it doesn't get easier until they get better. I want to help make this process for you as easy as possible by giving you resources and support that you need. Whether that be finding a treatment center/program that is tailored to your needs or filing a Casey's Law petition to help you get the help (court ordered) for your loved one that is in denial and will not seek help for themselves. I also can provide you with some free resources to help on the prevention side.

If there is air in your lungs, there is still hope. No matter how many times you have tried. You are not broken, You are healing!
Let me help you. Call me TODAY!

In recognition of National Public Safety Telecommunicators Week (April 12-18, 2026), the Russell County Fiscal Court is proud to celebrate the dedicated dispatchers who serve as the calm voice in moments of crisis.

This year, we’re inviting our community to help us show appreciation by participating in a special “Support a Dispatcher” initiative!

Community members and local businesses are invited to contribute items that will support and encourage our dispatch team.

If you’re interested in participating, reach out to the fiscal court and we’ll help coordinate details and match you with a dispatcher or a day to drop off items.

💛 Ideas for donations include:
• Gift cards
• Drinks (coffee, bottled water, energy drinks, etc.)
• Snacks (sweet treats and healthier options)
• Small goodie bags or candy
• Handwritten notes or cards of appreciation

Our dispatchers work around the clock to serve Russell County, and this is a great opportunity to remind them just how valued they are.

📅 Please reach out to the county judges office by Friday to get involved or learn more.

Thank you for helping us recognize the voices behind the call-those who make a difference every single day. 💛

There is an elevated risk of fire concerns across Kentucky tomorrow, meaning there should be no outdoor burning. Much of the lower Ohio River Valley is experiencing widespread moderate to severe drought.

Southerly surface winds on Sunday around 15 MPH will support elevated fire-weather concerns. While instances of light to
moderate precipitation may occur the prior afternoon/evening, this
will do little to alleviate the overall fire-weather concerns.
