Saturday members of the Fentress County Volunteer Rescue Squad and the Fentress County Fire Department participated in the hands-on part of the extrication class. The students were given a scenario and then used what they learned in the classroom to complete the extrication. We'd like to thank Pritchett’s Towing and Auto Salvage for the cars they provided and the use of their junkyard space so that these members could have this hands-on experience. This group of members stepped up and committed their time to learn skills for the benefit of our community.

Members of the Fentress Rescue Squad and Fentress County Fire Department have kicked off their week with night 1 of Extrication Class. This class teaches members of both departments how to safely get a patient who is trapped in a vehicle out so that the patient can receive medical care.

Three of our members are away this weekend attending training for heavy rescue. The training includes the hazards and methods in dealing with large scale commercial vehicle incidents. Members will be learning tactics and techniques in dealing with stabilization, extrication and recovery of commercial trucks and equipment. Here are a few pictures from Day 1. This training is great opportunity since we have commercial vehicles and large equipment traveling our county roads every day.

🚧 ROAD CLOSURE NOTICE – ALL THINGS TN FESTIVAL 🇺🇸🎉

Fentress County residents and visitors, please be advised of upcoming road closures for the All Things Tennessee Festival this Saturday, May 2nd, 2026.

📍 Location: Around the Fentress County Courthouse (downtown Jamestown)
⏰ Start Time: Early morning on Saturday, May 2nd

Roads surrounding the courthouse and central downtown area will be closed to traffic to allow for festival setup and activities throughout the day.

🚗 What to Expect:

Limited access in the downtown area
Detours and traffic rerouting
Increased pedestrian traffic

⚠️ Important:
With all the events taking place, we want the community to be aware of these closures and plan ahead to navigate around the area if you need to get somewhere.

🚑 Public Safety Reminder:
Emergency services will remain in operation, but please allow extra travel time and use alternate routes when possible.

Due to current conditions, NO burn permits will be issued for:

These restrictions are in place to help reduce the risk of wildfires and protect our community, responders, and property.

We ask everyone to please refrain from any outdoor burning during this time. Even small fires can quickly get out of control under these conditions.
