On 6/1/26 at around 11:21 PM, officers from the Jamestown Police Department's Third Platoon responded to an east-side address for a report of a person with a weapon and a person who had been stabbed. Through investigation it was determined that Brionna S. Bush went to the victim's house, forced her way inside, and engaged in a physical altercation. During this altercation, both the victim and Brionna sustained non-life-threatening injuries from a knife. Brionna was treated for her injuries and transported to the Jamestown City Jail, where she is being charged with two counts of Burglary 1st, Assault 2nd, and Criminal Possession of a Weapon 4th.

The Jamestown Police Department is happy to announce the hiring of Police Officer Angel Dominguez Garcia. He is joining the Jamestown Police Department after graduating from South Bronx Prep, obtaining his Bachelor's from John Jay College of Criminal Justice, and attending the Chautauqua County Sheriff's Academy. When he's not on the job, Garcia enjoys working out and spending time with his family.

The Jamestown Police Department has received reports of an increase in spoofing calls - scammers are using our non-emergency phone number to scam residents. Please read and share!

Here's what you need to know to stay safe:
• Hang Up Immediately: The police will NEVER call you to demand payment for a warrant over the phone.
• Do NOT Pay: Scammers typically request payment via wire transfers, cryptocurrency, or pre-paid gift cards.
• Verify Directly: If you are concerned you have an actual warrant or police matter, call the dispatch directly at 716-483-7537 or dial 911 for emergencies.

What to Do if You Receive a Spoofed Call
• Ignore or Hang Up: If you suspect spoofing, do not engage, press numbers, or answer questions.
• Never Share Info: Law enforcement or official agencies will not ask for your Social Security number, banking details, or PIN over an incoming call.
• Report the Scammers: You can file an official fraud complaint with the Federal Communications Commission (FCC).

On May 27, 2026, at around 11:04 P.M., officers of the Jamestown Police Department's Third Platoon and New York State Police responded to a domestic dispute in progress on the East side of Jamestown. Investigation discovered that Jack E. Wyant engaged in a physical altercation causing physical injuries to the victim. It was also discovered that the victim is the protected party in a stay-away order of protection against Wyant. Wyant was transported to Jamestown City Jail without incident and is being held pending arraignment on charges of Aggravated Criminal Contempt and Assault 3rd.

The Jamestown Police Department is happy to announce the hiring of Police Officer Kaleb Martinez. Martinez is joining the Jamestown Police Department after obtaining his education at Fredonia High School and the Chautauqua County Sheriff's Academy. Before entering law enforcement, Martinez proudly served in the United States Navy as a Machinery Repairman (MR2), Petty Officer Second Class. Outside of work, Martinez enjoys hunting, fishing, cycling and spending time with his family.

On May 20, 2026, at approximately 4:20 a.m., officers of the Jamestown Police Department's Third Platoon responded to Tops Markets for a report of a female asleep behind the wheel of a vehicle in the parking lot. Upon arrival, officers located the vehicle and made contact with the operator, identified as 44-year-old Jamestown resident Tonya S. Thwing. During the investigation, officers determined that Tonya was operating the vehicle while under the influence or drugs. When officers attempted to place her into custody, she pulled away from officers and failed to comply with verbal commands. Following a brief struggle, Tonya was taken into custody without further incident. Tonya was transported to the Jamestown City Jail, where officers conducted an inventory of her property. During the inventory, officers located a quantity of methamphetamine packaged for sale, as well as hydrocodone and alprazolam that were not prescribed to her. Officers also recovered drug paraphernalia. Tony is charged with Driving While Ability Impaired by Drugs (DWAI), Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the 5th Degree (Felony), two counts of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the 7th Degree, Criminal Use of Drug Paraphernalia in the 2nd Degree, and Resisting Arrest. She is currently being held pending arraignment.
