A Great Turnout at the Station Last Night!

We had a huge turnout of members for practice last night! Instead of our usual training, everyone pitched in to clean, organize, and get the station ready for all of the visitors we’ll be welcoming during the Jamestown Fair Parade registration.

It was a great night of teamwork, and we appreciate everyone who came out and helped get the station looking its best!

We’re looking forward to seeing everyone at the Jamestown Fair & Parade!

Tonight’s training brought out 12 members for some hands-on SCBA and gear drills. We practiced donning and doffing our gear and SCBA, with some members using a SCBA for the very first time.

We also went over the SCBA inspection checklist that members pursuing Pennsylvania Firefighter I will need to know for the state test.

From there, we drilled “packing up” inside the truck and pulling hose. We were just about ready to call it a night when we were toned out for a fire at the airport. We responded with three full trucks.

Thankfully, it turned out to be a controlled burn and everything was OK.

Today, five members of the JVFD completed the third day of Hazmat Operations training at Hermitage Station One.

This intensive course spans two full weekends and combines classroom instruction with hands-on experience. Hazmat Operations training is part of the Firefighter I curriculum required by the JVFD for members to serve as interior firefighters at Station 89, helping them better serve our community.
