Today, we recognize the dedicated volunteers serving with Fentress County Unit 6 (Pall Mall), Unit 9 (West Fentress), and Unit 10 (Double Top).

These three units are made up of 16 committed volunteer firefighters who protect their communities with pride, professionalism, and heart.

From rural backroads and farmland to wooded terrain and residential areas, these firefighters respond to structure fires, brush fires, vehicle accidents, storm damage, and emergency calls of all kinds. They train regularly, maintain their equipment, and stand ready at a momentโ€™s notice โ€” all while balancing jobs, families, and personal responsibilities.

Chief Larry Cooper shared:

โ€œThe firefighters serving in Pall Mall, West Fentress, and Double Top represent the true spirit of volunteer service. These 16 individuals consistently step up when their community needs them. Their teamwork, dedication, and willingness to answer the call make a real difference every single day.โ€

Volunteer firefighters are more than responders โ€” they are neighbors protecting neighbors.

Please join us in thanking Unit 6, Unit 9, and Unit 10 for their continued service and commitment to keeping Fentress County safe. ๐Ÿš’โค๏ธ

๐Ÿš’๐Ÿ”ฅ Wrapping Up Tennessee Volunteer Firefighter Appreciation Week ๐Ÿ”ฅ๐Ÿš’

As Volunteer Firefighter Appreciation Week in Tennessee comes to a close, the Fentress County Fire Department would like to extend our sincere gratitude to the men and women who volunteer their time, energy, and dedication to protect the citizens of our county.

Throughout this week, we have highlighted the incredible volunteers who serve across our communitiesโ€”from Pall Mall, East Jamestown, Sharp/Alticrest, West Fentress, Double Top, and many others throughout the county. These individuals come from all walks of life. They are parents, farmers, business owners, mechanics, teachers, and neighbors. Yet when the pager tones drop, they all share one common purpose: serving their community when it matters most.

Volunteer firefighters give up evenings, weekends, holidays, and time with their families to respond to emergencies. Whether it is a structure fire, vehicle accident, medical call, storm damage, or search and rescue, they answer the call without hesitation. Many spend countless hours training to ensure they are prepared for whatever situation they may face. Their commitment requires sacrifice, dedication, and a true servantโ€™s heart.

In rural communities like Fentress County, volunteer firefighters are not just part of the fire department โ€” they are the lifeline of emergency response. Their presence ensures that help arrives when our neighbors need it most.

๐Ÿ”ฅ Fentress County Fire Chief Larry Cooper shared:
โ€œVolunteer firefighters truly represent the spirit of service in Fentress County. These men and women give their time freely to protect their neighbors, often leaving their homes and families in the middle of the night to respond to emergencies. Their dedication, training, and commitment to this community does not go unnoticed. On behalf of the Fentress County Fire Department, I want to personally thank every volunteer firefighter and their families for the sacrifices they make to keep our county safe.โ€

The Fentress County Fire Department is proud to stand beside these volunteers who embody the values of service, courage, and community every single day.

As we wrap up this special week of recognition, we encourage everyone in our community to take a moment to thank a volunteer firefighter for the work they do.

๐Ÿš’ From all of us at the Fentress County Fire Department โ€” thank you to every volunteer firefighter who proudly serves Fentress County. Your dedication makes a difference every day.

03/02/2026

This week, we proudly kick off Volunteer Firefighter Appreciation Week across the great state of Tennessee โ€” and here in Fentress County, we are especially grateful for the dedicated men and women who answer the call without hesitation.

Our volunteer firefighters serve selflessly โ€” leaving their families at the dinner table, getting out of bed in the middle of the night, and stepping away from their regular jobs โ€” all to protect lives and property throughout Fentress County. Whether itโ€™s a structure fire, vehicle accident, brush fire, medical assist, or storm response, they show up ready to serve.

These are your neighbors. Your friends. Your family members.
They are the backbone of rural fire service.

Fire Chief Larry Cooper shared:

โ€œVolunteer firefighters are the heart of Fentress County. These men and women give their time, their energy, and often put themselves in harmโ€™s way to protect people they may not even know. Their dedication speaks volumes about the character of our community. On behalf of the Fentress County Fire Department, I want to personally thank each one of our volunteers and their families for the sacrifices they make every single day.โ€

We also recognize that behind every volunteer firefighter is a supportive family who shares in that commitment. Thank you for allowing us to serve alongside your loved ones.

Behind the flashing lights and brave faces, there are men and women carrying invisible wounds.

The things they see, the calls they answer, the pain they absorbโ€”it changes them.

First responders are trained to run toward chaos, but who runs toward them when the chaos seeps into their hearts?

Letโ€™s remember that heroes need healing, too.

Check in on your firefighter, your EMT, your police officer. Ask how they really are.

Sometimes the strongest people are the ones silently fighting battles no one else can see.

๐Ÿ–ค In Loving Memory of Tammy Beaty ๐Ÿ–ค

It is with heavy hearts that we mourn the passing of Fentress County E911 Dispatcher, TAC/Supervisor Tammy Beaty, who passed away on the evening of December 28, 2025.

Tammy was a steady presence in moments of uncertainty, a leader within the communications center, and a trusted voice behind the radio who helped guide first responders through some of the most difficult moments they would ever face. Her dedication, professionalism, and compassion made a lasting impact not only on her coworkers, but on the countless lives she touched through her service to Fentress County.

Her commitment to public safety extended far beyond the console. Tammy supported her fellow dispatchers, mentored others, and served as a vital link between the community and emergency responders. Her absence will be deeply felt across all of Fentress Countyโ€™s emergency services.

Chief Larry Cooper shared the following:
โ€œTammy was a true professional and a vital part of our public safety family. She cared deeply for her coworkers and for the people she served every day. She will be greatly missed, and our thoughts and prayers are with her family and the men and women of E911.โ€

We ask the community to keep Tammyโ€™s family, friends, and coworkers in your thoughts and prayers during this difficult time as we honor her life, her service, and the legacy she leaves behind. ๐Ÿ•Š๏ธ
