Today, the Sonora Area CHP participated in the 2026 Law Enforcement Torch Run for the Special Olympics. We began at the Red Church on Washington Street and ended at the Motherlode Fairgrounds. Along the route we were met by spectators who cheered for both the athletes and us. At the end of the run, we celebrated with a hotdog lunch and even some ice cream! Thank you to the Sonora Police Department and the Tuolumne County Sheriff's Office for also being a part of this fun and memorable event. We are so proud of the athletes from the Tuolumne County Ravens and will continue to support them as their summer events begin. CHP - Advisory Committee for Persons with Disabilities

This past Sunday, the Sonora Area CHP participated in the Cars, Cops and Coffee car show. This car show was held at Adventist Health Sonora and benefits families impacted by cancer treatments. While there, we were also able to speak to the public about pedestrian and bike safety. Thank you to the Modesto Area CHP office and Sergeant Danny Bowen for bringing his CHP motorcycle to the event. It's not often the residents from Tuolumne County can see these motorcycles up close and ask specific questions about the technology that goes into them.
