Today I got to snap this photo of an incredibly talented group of young artists after an unforgettable week at the Big 8 Conference Art Exhibition.

Their creativity, work ethic, willingness to take risks, and support for one another truly shined throughout this entire experience. Watching them walk through the exhibit and see their artwork displayed alongside schools from all over the area was something special.

This year was extra meaningful because McDonald County hosted the Big 8 Art Show for the first time in nearly 10 years, and our students represented White Rock so well. From pottery and sculpture to needle felting, scratch art, mixed media, recycled art, and more, these kids absolutely showed up.

And to top it all off, Madalynn Kish received Best in Show. What an incredible accomplishment!

Awards are exciting, but what makes me most proud is seeing students believe in themselves, encourage each other, and realize that their creativity matters.

Thank you to the families, staff, administrators, fellow art teachers, and community members who continue supporting art education and cheering these students on. It truly makes a difference.

This show is about having fun, making memories, and letting your school see what makes YOU special. Some of the most unforgettable acts start with students who almost didn’t sign up!

Grab a friend and do an act together if you’re nervous. We would LOVE to have more group acts too!
