Choose beverages to stay hydrated, such as sparkling waters or lemonade while limiting caffeine and alcohol. The American Academy of Pediatrics recommends that the safest option is to avoid alcohol altogether while breastfeeding.

🥦 🥕 🌽The 2026 Food Environment Report is out! The report shows:

1. It is getting harder for Rock County residents to access a variety of nutritious and desirable foods.

2. Part of that is because food costs are inconsistent across the county, with large differences between communities. Residents living in rural areas and those with less grocery store access are impacted more.

3. But there are also opportunities, with many ways for residents to increase food access for themselves and their communities:

✅️Volunteer at or donate to your local food pantry – ask what foods are in high demand.

✅️Shop local when you can – summer is the season for farmers markets, roadside stands, and CSAs. Consider spending your SNAP dollars at a farmers market, and ask about a matching program!

✅️Get your hands dirty! Grow your own garden (check out your local library for resources and seeds), consider planting at a community garden, or ask your local CSA about a worker share.

✅️Raise awareness – talk about food access with your neighbors and local elected officials.

Rock County Public Health partners with local groups to offer free gun locks for residents. These are available through public vending machines located across the county. Using a gun lock is a simple step that protects loved ones and supports a safer community.
