Registration is now open for our Cops & Bobbers youth fishing event on July 7, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., at Leonard Leota Park in Evansville. Youth participants accompanied by Sheriff's Office staff will fish Lake Leota from shore. Register your kid(s) ages 7-12 at https://www.co.rock.wi.us/departments/sheriff-s-office/recreational-patrol/cops-and-bobbers. Registration is limited to twenty-five kids.

We held our first 2026 Cops & Bobbers youth fishing event today at Floating Toy in Edgerton. Twelve kids fished Lake Koshkonong with Rock County Sheriff's Office, Village of Clinton Police Department, and Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources staff. The kids caught several fish!🎣

Thanks to Floating Toy for hosting the event, supplying pontoon boats, and donating hot dogs for lunch, to Pike Pole Fishing Guide Service for sharing his expertise as well as donating bait and lures for prizes, to The Morse Group for providing fishing poles for prizes, to It's A Keeper Bait & Tackle for supplying bait, to Frito-Lay, Inc. for donating chips for lunch, and to Old Fashion Bakery for donating cookies for lunch. Community support makes events like this possible.

ROCK’S TOP: Meet Sergeant David Rossmiller

Sgt. Rossmiller recently attended the National Law Enforcement Week events in Washington, D.C. to honor law enforcement officers who died in the line of duty.

He started at the Rock County Sheriff’s Office in March 1995 as a Correctional Officer. He became a Deputy Sheriff in March 1996. He earned a promotion to Sergeant in February 2012. He currently supervises first shift in the Patrol Bureau.

Sgt. Rossmiller is long-time member of our agency’s Honor Guard. He also leads the Motor Team. Sgt. Rossmiller oversees the Domestic Violence Intervention Team.

Sgt. Rossmiller retired from the SWAT Team in 2025 after 24 years of service. He served as an Operator and Sniper. He was instrumental in the development of our Sniper Team.

He is a Fi****ms Instructor and Armorer known for regularly sharing his weapons expertise with staff. Sgt. Rossmiller also instructs Vehicle Contacts.

Outside of work, Sgt. Rossmiller focuses on his family and faith. He resides in Janesville and is active in his church. He enjoys riding his motorcycle and hunting.
