This Teacher Appreciation message is brought to you by your PTA Vice-President Julie Jenson:

Dear Roosevelt Teachers, I wanted to wish you all a wonderful Teacher Appreciation Week. I know that you have all gone above and beyond with your hearts and souls to make the very best of our current teaching/learning situation. I know that I'm not alone when I say "thank you" for the time and effort you've put in for your students and your Roosevelt families.

In this photo you see my daughter by the Roosevelt sign. She had just learned how to ride her bike and wanted to ride by Roosevelt. She stopped in front of that sign and began reminiscing about her teacher, her classmates, and her friends. Now we ride by Roosevelt on a regular basis, and we say our hello's. In my mind I'm also thinking about how grateful I am to have had all three of my children at Roosevelt with the most amazing staff in the entire School District of Janesville.

Happy Teacher Appreciation from the bottom of my heart!

The Adams Learning Commons has been off to a busy start of the school year! We are so glad to have new and returning students back checking out library books. Keep on the lookout for information about the Fall Scholastic Book Fair and other fun stuff happening in the LC!

Science Night is this Thursday, April 21st at Adams Elementary School from 5:30-6:30 pm! Join us for lots of cool activities, including robots, slime, an imagination station, and even making a spaghetti tower. Hope to see you there!

Thank you to everyone that stopped by the book fair over conferences last week! Hopefully everyone is enjoying reading their new books! Be on the lookout for some new book donations that will soon be available in the Learning Commons. We would also like to thank everyone that volunteered to help out during the book fair. We couldn't have these events without you!

This week our 2nd grade classes got to try out the Encyclopedia Britannica website during their Learning Commons time with Mrs. Biege. They were able to find lots of extra information and videos about the topics they are learning about in science, like volcanos and oceans.

Kindergarten and 1st grade classes are practicing how to log into the computers and exploring fun websites like Tumblebooks.

Our 5th grade LC helpers are also helping to get book fair flyers ready to send home. The book fair will be held on March 9th and 10th, during conferences. More information coming soon!

Some of our awesome 5th graders are donating their recess time to help out in the Learning Commons. They are learning how to shelve books and also helping to straighten our shelves.

Here are fifth grade students learning about the importance of appropriate Internet conduct. Mrs. Biege is going over our Gmail and Google Apps Code of Conduct.

Our kindergarten classes were so excited to finish their first Learning Commons adventure during the last week of January. Each week they checked out library books by the author's last name that started with a certain letter(s) of the alphabet and they made it all the way to Z! We are so proud of their accomplishment!

Today was so wonderful! Lisl Detlefsen, author of "Time for Cranberries" visited Adams and Washington Schools. Her presentations were interesting, informative and so great for our students. She is a lovely, lovely person and I am very thankful to her for sharing the values of hard work, perseverance, and the love of reading and writing with our students. She also emphasized how having caring teachers in Janesville truly made a big difference in her life. Thank you Lisl for following your dreams and sharing your talents with us. Have a fantastic day tomorrow at Madison School!
