JCSD is a progressive NE Iowa school district committed to student achievement and opportunity. Student achievement typically exceeds State and AEA267 proficiency averages in all content areas and grade levels. In addition to extensive on-site programming, JCSD students access programming via on-line courses, ICN, Waverly Shell-Rock High School, Hawkeye Community College, University of Northern Io

wa, Wartburg College, and Allen Hospital. JCSD has recently completed nearly $4 million in facility renovations, as well as extensive upgrades to technological infrastructure. Implementation of mobile learning is currently underway via iPad labs at the elementary and middle school levels. Other initiatives currently being considered include the expansion of High School Spanish to grades K-12, as well as programming in virtual reality (VREP).

Janesville High School: Work-Based Learning Internships – Spring 2026

Through our partnership with Central Rivers Area Education Agency, the Janesville Work-Based Learning (WBL) Internship Program connects high school students with real-world career experiences through partnerships with local businesses and organizations across our region.

During their internships, students are able to step outside the classroom and into professional environments where they can explore career pathways, develop durable employability skills, and apply their learning in meaningful, hands-on ways. These experiences help students build confidence, strengthen communication and problem-solving skills, and gain a clearer understanding of their future goals. Equally important, our business partners play a vital role in shaping these experiences by mentoring students, providing authentic workplace learning opportunities, and investing in the future workforce of our communities.

Janesville CSD is excited to share several staffing updates for the 2026–27 school year!

Heather Bruess – Elementary Secretary

Heather Bruess has been hired to replace Jo Apling as the district's elementary secretary.

Heather is married to Matt Bruess, and together they have two children: MJ, who will be entering 6th grade at Janesville next year, and Bowen, who recently celebrated his first birthday. Heather previously worked as a paraprofessional in Mrs. Adolph's preschool classroom, an experience she truly enjoyed.

The Bruess family has called Janesville home for the past eight years and has developed a deep appreciation for both the community and the school district during that time.

Brett Robbins – Part-Time PE Teacher and Athletic Director

Brett Robbins has been transferred into a dual role as part-time physical education teacher and part-time athletic director. He will also continue serving as the Wildcats' boys wrestling coach.

Brett brings extensive coaching experience, having coached collegiate wrestling at UNI and Illinois Wesleyan University. He is married to Holli Robbins, who has been a teacher in our elementary school for more than a decade. Brett and Holli have two young children, Jack and Nora, who keep them busy and active.

Anne Graham – Part-Time Instructional Coach and Dean of Students

Anne Graham has been transferred into a dual role as part-time instructional coach and part-time dean of students.

Anne has served Janesville CSD since the 2013–14 school year, working as both an elementary teacher and instructional coach. She is married to Dave Graham, a former Wildcats football and baseball coach. Together they have two children, Dawson and Macie. Dawson is a 2025 graduate and currently serves as our junior high assistant baseball coach, while Macie will graduate from JCSD next school year.

Please join us in congratulating and welcoming Heather, Brett, and Anne into their new roles. We are excited for the positive impact they will continue to make in our schools and community!

🐾 All youth baseball and softball players wearing their Little League team jersey will receive FREE admission with a paid adult!

Wear your jersey, bring your teammates, and help us pack the park as we celebrate our future Wildcats! It's a great opportunity for our young players to support the high school teams and enjoy a fun night at the ballpark.

Attention Wildcat football players! Get ready for the upcoming season by joining the Janesville High School Football Camp this August.

📅 August 5 & 6, 2026
⏰ 6:00–7:30 PM each night
📍 Janesville Football Field

This camp is designed to help athletes prepare for the season through skill development, position instruction, and team concepts led by the Janesville High School coaching staff.

Camp includes:
🏈 Position-specific instruction
🏈 Football fundamentals and technique work
🏈 Offensive and defensive skill development
🏈 Preparation for the upcoming season
👕 Official camp t-shirt

💲 Cost: $25 per athlete

Calling all future Wildcats! Join the Janesville Football coaching staff and players for two fun-filled evenings of football instruction, skill development, and competition at the Janesville Youth Football Camp!

📅 August 3 & 4, 2026
⏰ 6:00–7:30 PM each night

👦👧 Open to students entering 3rd–8th grade

Campers will receive:
🏈 Instruction from Janesville High School coaches
🏈 Hands-on coaching from Wildcat football players

🏈💛 11th Annual Janesville Mom Football Camp 💛🏈

Have you ever wondered what it's like to be a Wildcat football player? Now's your chance to find out!

Join the Janesville Wildcat Football Team for our 11th Annual Mom Football Camp on Saturday, August 22 from 9:30–11:30 AM. This fun and interactive event is open to moms, grandmothers, aunts, and any female Wildcat supporters who want to learn more about the game and experience football from a player's perspective.

Participants will:
🏈 Learn football fundamentals and terminology
🏋️ Get a look inside strength and conditioning training
📝 Participate in chalk talk sessions
🎽 Learn about football equipment and practice techniques
🚩 Understand penalties and game situations
👕 Receive an official Mom Football Camp t-shirt

Please wear comfortable clothing and running shoes, as we'll spend time both in the weight room and on the football field.

Cost: We are asking for a $20 donation if you're able, but we want everyone to attend regardless of financial circumstances.
