Maggie and I spent the evening knocking doors in Haubstadt. We met a lot of good people.

Maggie's favorite was Jeannie. Jeannie, we're pulling for that foot to heal up fast.

Data centers are on the agenda at both of our September town halls. Here's part of why.

The EPA has proposed dropping the federal rule that requires states to publish air pollution permit applications and take public comment before construction starts. It covers what the Clean Air Act calls minor sources, and that's the category data centers fall into. If it's finalized, every state decides for itself whether people still get notified.

That puts the question in Indianapolis. Indiana would decide whether you hear about a project near you before the permit is signed or after the trucks show up.

I've sat in enough rooms in this district to know how people feel about finding out late. It was the Mid-States Corridor. It was the battery storage project. I hear the same thing every time, from Republicans and Democrats both. Nobody asked us.

Ireland, Tuesday September 8th. Princeton, Wednesday September 9th. Come tell me what you think Indiana should do.

Under the proposal, states would no longer need to provide public notice or solicit comments on air pollution permits for data centers and other projects.

Two town halls, two nights, two counties.

Tuesday, September 8th at the Ireland Sportsman's Club, 4758 N 550 W. Doors at 6:30 ET, we start at 7. Angi Nehmer is moderating. We'll get into the state's budget bill and what it's doing to property taxes and school funding, battery storage, data centers, and what you do when you feel like your voice isn't getting heard.

Wednesday, September 9th at the Princeton Public Library, 124 S. Hart Street. Doors at 6:30 CT. Tiffanie Arthur is moderating. Property rights, water and land, data centers, zoning, and accountability from the people you put in office.

Thank you to the Dubois County Democrats and the Gibson County Democratic Party. Neither of these nights happens without volunteers giving up their own evenings to set up chairs and track down the wi-fi password.

Here's what I keep hearing in every county in this district. People want to know who made the decision, when they made it, and why voters didn't know about it first. I hear it from Republicans, from Democrats, and from folks who want nothing to do with either party. Voters across District 48 are asking their representatives for transparency and accountability, and they are not getting it.

Both nights are free. Snacks and drinks, $5 suggested if you can. Republicans, independents, Democrats, non-political folks. All welcome. Bring a neighbor.

Forty-five people in Huntingburg tonight, and the best conversation we've had yet.

The question that took over the room: what skills do our elected leaders actually need now? The world moves faster than it used to. Nobody in that room thought the answer was more of the same.

People disagreed with each other and nobody got talked over. That's the whole point of these.

$14 MILLION in road projects in Spencer County ELIMINATED.

Pavement on SR 66. Roundabouts. A bridge deck over Blackhawk Creek. Even striping on rural roads. All of it was on INDOT's books, and all of it is gone.

Meanwhile, the state keeps promoting the Mid-States Corridor, a brand new highway the people of this district have said they don't want.

Fix the roads we have before building the one we don't.

Loved hearing the Mayor of Terre Haute, Brandon Sakbun, burn Mike Braun for using his office to try to build a highway to the front door of his business. It's time for a change.
