We want to invite all of our veterans and active duty military service members, as well as their families and caregivers, who live in Jasper County and the surrounding areas of Southeast and Deep East Texas to our 5th Annual Veterans Stand Down event, which will be held Friday, August 7th, 2026 from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the J.H. Rowe Resource Center, located at 750 East Gibson Street (On U.S. Highway 190) in the City of Jasper, Texas.

We have moved the Veterans Stand Down location from Jasper County's Annex Building on Houston Street due to the tremendous veteran response and growth in vendor support over the past few years.

The Southeast Texas Food Bank has graciously volunteered to provide space for this event at the J.H. Rowe Resource Center and we deeply appreciate their support of our local veterans and their families.

Jasper County’s 5th Annual Southeast Texas Veterans Stand Down is completely free to our military veterans, their families and caregivers.

Thank you all for your service to our nation and to your fellow man. We look forward to seeing you there.

Outstanding course and a great time visiting with our local law enforcement officers from Jasper County and across the region.

Many thanks to Lawson Dry and the Southeast Texas Violent Crimes Task Force for putting this program together to train our people here at home.

More than 40 law enforcement professionals recently attended Outlaw Motorcycle Gang Training in Jasper, in partnership with BS Narcotics, Jasper County Judge Mark Allen, Jasper PD, and the Southeast Texas Violent Crimes Task Force.

CLEAT member and instructor Chris McAnulty delivered two outstanding 8-hour courses! Training Coordinator Jeff Lake fosters partnerships like these to bring quality training opportunities to our members. Also on hand was Regional Instructor Lawson Dry, supporting the event and connecting with attendees.

Many thanks to Executive Director Shanna Burke and Program Director Bob Dickinson with the South East Texas Regional Planning Commission for working with Jasper County and Buna ISD to host a major Household Hazardous Waste Collection event this Saturday for citizens of the four SETRPC counties including Jasper, Hardin, Jefferson and Orange Counties.

To say that this event was a success would be an understatement. The turnout from our citizens in the Southeast Texas region today was amazing, with literally several tons of tires, batteries, oil, paint and household hazardous waste products being dropped off for safe disposal.

Many thanks to the team of professionals in my office for working with Mr. Dickinson and the SETRPC’s Transportation & Environmental Resources Division to coordinate the event, and especially to my Maintenance Officer, Jasper County Precinct 2 Deputy Constable Stormy Dorthy for being there with his inmate crew from start to finish, and for jumping in to help with tires when the crew needed a break.

The inmates themselves did an outstanding job and were courteous and professional while helping to remove items from cars, trucks and trailers throughout the day.

Although the SETRPC is still gathering data on totals, we know that about 3,029 tires were loaded into two large freight trailers, with several remaining to be removed separately due to the lack of space.

I have to also thank Clean Harbors out of Beaumont for providing manpower and professional environmental disposal of the tires and other waste products, making the entire operation safe and effficient.

Also, once again thanks to Buna ISD for hosting the event at the High School, which allowed for an outstanding staging area and the perfect place for maintaining safe traffic flow and to Precinct 4 Commissioner Dennis Marks for providing personnel and for attending the event.

Finally, I want to thank Sheriff’s Office Sergeant Investigator David Lampman and Deputies Chris Walker and Clayton Daigle for providing law enforcement support and traffic control for this event.

I am proud to have been a part of this event today and even more proud of the work done by these folks to help remove hazardous waste products from the homes and farms of our citizens.

Please use the QR code below or visit damage.tdem.texas.gov to report property damage due to the storm systems that have moved through Jasper County over the past few nights.

This will assist the State of Texas by tracking damage to determine if a Governor's declaration is warranted for our county and the Southeast Texas region, which may help property owners receive needed assistance.
