❤️ A LITTLE HELP CAN GO A LONG WAY

Our Co-Responder Unit now has another resource available to help individuals experiencing homelessness in our community.

Thanks to Highland Rivers Behavioral Health, the unit was provided with small tents and backpacks containing basic essentials. These kits will be carried by the Co-Responder Unit and provided to individuals they encounter who may be without shelter or other necessities.

Sometimes making a difference starts with meeting someone where they are and helping with an immediate need.

We’re grateful to Highland Rivers Behavioral Health for their continued partnership and for helping us care for people in our community when they may need it most.

August 31st is International Overdose Awareness Day (IOAD).

For 25 years, IOAD has brought people together to remember those who have died from overdose, support people affected by substance use, and take action to save lives.

Behind every statistic is a person — someone loved, valued, and missed. This year’s theme, “25 Years On. Still Needed.”

CDC is marking IOAD with a continued call to action: Still Needed. Still Taking Action. Still Saving Lives.

Overdose is preventable. You can help by:
- Learning the signs of overdose.
- Carrying naloxone and knowing how to use it.
- Promoting respect by using person-centered language.
- Supporting access to treatment and recovery services.
- Sharing evidence-based overdose prevention resources.

Summer meals are available at no cost to children 18 and under. Free summer meals start June 1st and end July 16th, 2026 at the following location:

Pickens High School - 500 Dragon Drive, Jasper
Monday - Thursday from 11:00 to 11:30

Pick up is located inside the school in the hallway between the cafeteria and the weight training room. Enter the school at the outdoor courtyard entrance on the side of the school facing the tennis courts and baseball field.
