The 25th anniversary of Habitat for Humanity Pickens County GA celebrates a legacy of partnership, equity, and community-driven housing solutions. It highlights both the organization’s historical achievements and its forward-looking strategies to provide access to affordable housing, engage community volunteers, and support community involvement.
At a recent celebration event Monique Vinellli, Habitat Pickens President honored Milagros Lane and Mark Hinton by presenting them both with plaques commemorating their twenty-five years of dedication and support to Habitat Pickens!

Habitat for Humanity Pickens County is excited to announce that we have chosen our next homeowners! Walter and Anna Arnold and their children, were chosen to be Homeowner #23. The Arnold’s will meet with Habitat Pickens Vice-President and Construction Chairman ,Ray Champitto, in the upcoming weeks to finalize the plans and then construction will begin later this summer.
Thank you to all of our donors and volunteers who will make this dream of home ownership a reality for the Arnold family. If you would like to participate in helping this family with the build, we are always looking for volunteers. A common misconception is that Habitat Pickens “gives away” homes. Habitat for Humanity does not give away houses.
Habitat does offer affordable financing on mortgages with affordable monthly payments to increase homeownership among low or moderate income households.
We collaborate closely on every aspect of home purchase from application to closing. Repayments are then cycled into helping more families build affordable homes.
At Habitat Pickens we build one home each year as funding allows. Thanks to outstanding community volunteerism and financial support there are now twenty two Habitat homes in Pickens County!
Four of these homes have mortgages paid in full!
We love celebrating when a family or individual closes on their Habitat home, and we are even happier when they make their final mortgage payment.
