The 16th Annual Jasper Remembrance of 9/11 Event is set for Wednesday, September 9, 2026 at 8:30 am.

The event will be located on the west side of the Jasper courthouse square.

Members of the New York Fire Department will be among some of the special guest in attendance.

The community is welcome to come out and support this event and remember the ones that gave the ultimate sacrifice on that tragic day.

The City of Jasper Light and Power Department has experienced a power outage caused by a fallen tree.

The tree damaged power lines on Live Oak Road, the Northwest side of town and we ask to please avoid this area while our crews work quickly and safely to restore power.

This outage will affect customers along Live Oak and Verna Street area.

City of Jasper staff will be monitoring the potential tropical cyclone in the gulf as it approaches the Texas coastal region.

We ask our citizens to stay aware and watch local weather outlets to stay updated on weather conditions.

City Employees gather together today to surprise Judy Wilson with any early retirement party. Judy will be retiring within the next couple weeks from her position at the City of Jasper as Human Resources Director.

Judy has worked at the city for 6 years after her retirement from Jasper ISD.

Judy will be greatly missed by all employees and friends she has made during her tenure.

She plans to spend time with her new grandchild, make more trips to the beach, and will have time to make more crafts.

We wish her and her family the best with this new chapter.

⚠️UPDATE ⚠️

The Texas Department of Transportation Contractors will be performing bridge work on US 190 East Overpass.

You can expect alternating lane closures on the westbound lanes from Timberline Street to East Houston Street on Thursday August 27 and Friday August 28 from 7 am to 5 pm each day.

All construction is subject to change and weather permitting.
