What can you plant in the garden in August? More than you might think!
As summer crops begin to wind down, it is time to start preparing for fall gardening. Beans, broccoli, cabbage, collards, kale, lettuce, radishes, turnips, and other vegetables can still be planted, depending on your location in Alabama. Your lawn and landscape also need attention this month, especially when it comes to watering and monitoring for insects and diseases.

**Late Post** In June, the AACD Standing Committee on Forestry and Wildlife held its annual Summer Workshop in beautiful Heflin, AL. It was a two-day event. In the classroom session, attendees heard about topics ranging from black bears and privet control to drone spraying. For the field tour, we got to tour Penny Creek Farms. The Executive Committee would like to thank the Cleburne County Soil and Water Conservation District and the Cleburne County Forestry Commission for working so hard to make this workshop a success.
