⭐ Employee Spotlight of the Week ⭐

This week we’re recognizing David Robertson, who has been part of the RPS family for 16 years. David joined RPS when we acquired American Ambulance Service in January 2010 and later transferred to Jefferson County, where he currently serves as the B Shift Supervisor.

David is a dependable leader who is always willing to help his crew and serve the community. His experience and dedication make him a valuable part of our team.

When he’s off duty, David enjoys grilling, relaxing at home, and spending time with his wife, Tina, and their children, Matthew and Abby. Their dog, Brindle, likes to join the fun as well!

Thank you, David, for 16 years of hard work and dedication. We’re proud to have you as part of the RPS family! 🚑👏

It is with heavy hearts that we extend our deepest condolences to the family, friends, and brothers and sisters of Assistant Chief Richard Meeks and the Curry Fire Department.

Richard was not only a respected leader in the fire service, but also a valued member of the Regional Paramedics family for several years. His dedication to serving others, his commitment to his community, and the impact he made on those around him will never be forgotten.

We are grateful for the time he spent serving alongside us and for the many lives he touched throughout his career. His legacy of service, leadership, and compassion will continue to live on through all who had the privilege of knowing him.

Please keep the Meeks family, Curry Fire Department, and all who loved Richard in your thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.

🌟 Employee Spotlight of the Week 🌟

Introducing everyone to Alex Reno, better known around RPS as “Reno,” began his career with RPS in January 2019 in the BLS Division before transferring to ALS operations in Winston County in May 2019. Since then, Reno has continued to grow both personally and professionally, earning his Advanced EMT license in October 2023. He currently continues serving the Winston County area, where he is known for his dedication, strong work ethic, and commitment to patient care.

Outside of work, Reno is married to his wife, Courtney, and the two live in Vinemont. In his free time, he enjoys watching and participating in sports, riding his motorcycle, and spending quality time with his wife and family.

Reno plans to continue advancing his education in EMS and hopes to pursue his Paramedic license in the future. We appreciate everything Reno brings to our RPS team and look forward to watching him continue to grow in his career!

Please pray for our friend Richard Meeks, his family, and our friends at Curry Fire Rescue.

🌟 🌟Employee Spotlight of the Week 🌟🌟

Hillary Browning has been with RPS since October 2022 where she started in the billing office. She quickly become an integral part of the team and took over all Internal Billing and managed billing for our repetitive non-emergent transport. In March 2026, after 3 ½ years in our billing department, she transitioned to Accounts Payable. She prides herself in being organized, driven, and easy to work with, which shows in her day to day! She is a firm believer that a little humor makes everything better.
Hillary attended University of Alabama where she graduated with her Bachelor's Degree. She was then accepted into Birmingham School of Law. After a week, she realized she was a little too straightforward for it and changed directions—which we are grateful for because it led her to us!
Hillary has been with her husband, BJ, for 11 ½ year and they have two boys. Noah who is 4 and asks “why?” like it’s his full-time job. Brooks is 5 months and runs the house despite not paying any bills. In her free time, she enjoys her monthly Bunco girl's night, being on the golf course (even though she’s terrible at it), and spending time with family and friends. While Hillary runs on love, chaos & whatever caffeine she can find, we are thankful to have her as part of the RPS family. When speaking to Hillary about her time at RPS, her response is “I absolutely love working at RPS. It’s a ‘I do not dread Monday’s’ kind of love, which feels like a rare adult achievement unlocked’.

🌟🌟Employee Spotlight of the Week 🌟🌟

We’re proud to recognize one of the dedicated leaders who helps keep Regional Paramedics running strong every single day, Veronica Connell.

Since joining RPS in January 2007, she has built an incredible 19-year career rooted in commitment, growth, and service. Starting as a call taker, she quickly proved herself and advanced into a shift supervisor role. In 2016, she was selected to help lead the launch of our new BLS dispatch call center in Homewood — a testament to her leadership and trust within the organization. Today, she continues that impact as the BLS Communications Controller in Gardendale, where she leads her team with pride, professionalism, and a strong focus on outstanding customer service.

What truly sets her apart is her heart for patient care. Even behind the scenes, she understands that every call represents someone in need. She approaches each situation with compassion, urgency, and a deep commitment to ensuring our patients receive the highest level of care from the very first point of contact.

Outside of work, her life is just as full and meaningful. She shares it with her spouse, Drue, and together they’ve built a beautiful family with six children and twelve grandchildren — a legacy that reflects the same love, dedication, and strength she brings to her role every day.

Thank you Veronica, for your years of service, your leadership, and the care you show to both your team and the patients we serve. You are a vital part of the RPS family.

🌟🌟Employee Spotlight of the Week 🌟🌟

We would like to introduce you to Mackenzie Watkins! She began her career in BLS in November 2024. She transitioned to ALS in Jefferson County as a driver in January 2025 while attending RTI for her basic certification, and later moved to St. Clair County in July 2025. She is currently enrolled at RTI as a paramedic student and will test soon to obtain her AEMT license. She is expected to graduate from paramedic in August.

Outside of work and school, Mackenzie enjoys spending time with family and friends. She loves being outdoors, whether at the beach or the lake, hiking, or recently getting back into working out-when she can find time away from studying. In the long term, she aspires to become a flight medic and may also pursue a career in the fire service.

Mackenzie has been a true blessing to both her team and the community she serves. She is a dedicated and hardworking individual who consistently goes above and beyond, and her efforts are deeply appreciated by those around her.
