County Commission Completes Energy Savings Work Session

The Walker County Commission held a work session on Thursday with PATH Company, who recently conducted an investment-grade audit for energy-saving measures on deferred maintenance projects.

Capitol improvement recommendations were based on three criteria: 1) Energy Performance – hoping to reduce the county’s overall utility spend, 2) Maintenance Costs – historical maintenance and repair expenses, and 3) Operational and Mission Risk – the impact of potential system failure on county operations.

The study was focused on the Walker Courthouse, Courthouse Annex, and Justice Center.

PATH presenting turnkey solution pricing and payment options for work that includes HVAC upgrades and roofing repair.

Sources of funding for the projects were discussed, including obtaining grants and legislative appropriations.

The next regular meeting of the Commission will be held on Monday, July 20 at 9:30 a.m. in the Commission Board Room.
