History Connect: Walker County Courthouse

The Walker County Courthouse, located at 1803 3rd Avenue South / 19th Street East in downtown Jasper, was constructed in 1932-33 by Foster & Creighton contractors. Built in Art Deco style, the limestone structure was designed by architect Charles H. McCauley. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 2004.

Commission Actions – October 5, 2026 Meeting

1. Commission approves designating Walker County Airport FBO building as the Walker County Courthouse Annex #4.

2. Commission approves replacing two (2) airport access gate security controls using designated courthouse security funds.

3. Commission approves scheduling a public hearing on petition to designate property as Industrial Park to be held on October 19, 2026 at 9:00 a.m. in the Walker County Courthouse Annex #1 commission meeting room.
- This will be the official designation as an industrial park by the county commission.
- Has been known as Heritage Industrial Park and is located in east Walker County, south of Exit 78.
