Santa Rosa County District Schools is aware of social media posts associated with the "Cat in the Hat" trend that have been circulating online.
We understand that messages like these can be concerning to students, families, and staff. Please know that Santa Rosa County District Schools takes all potential threats seriously. Local law enforcement agencies are aware of the situation and are actively monitoring it. The safety and well-being of our students and staff remain our highest priority.
Out of an abundance of caution, additional law enforcement and security personnel will be present on and around our campuses this week.
Students who receive messages connected to this trend should not respond or engage. Instead, they should report the message to a parent or guardian, school administrator, or law enforcement official. We encourage everyone to remain vigilant and report any concerning activity to Santa Rosa County Sheriff's Office at 850-983-1190 or Santa Rosa County Crime Stoppers at 850-437-STOP (7867).
While we do not want to create unnecessary alarm, we take school safety very seriously and are sharing this information to keep our families informed. The safety and security of our students and staff remain our highest priority, and we appreciate the continued support and partnership of our families and community.
