Never leave a debris burn unattended! 🪵🔥💨

Did you know that most of our wildfires in Mississippi start from escaped debris burning? It only takes a sudden wind gust or a moment away to let a yard cleanup turn into a wildfire.

Always keep your burn pile small, check the weather conditions beforehand, have a water source and tools nearby, and never walk away until the fire is completely out.

Protect our homes, our communities, and our forests, Mississippi! 🌲

😓The August heat has arrived, and we want you to be prepared! Prolonged heat can lead to heat exhaustion, heat stroke and other heat-related illnesses.

Remember these tips as you go about your day:
☀️ Stay in an air-conditioned area when possible (remember your pets need to come inside too).
💧 Drink plenty of water—don’t wait until you’re thirsty.
👕 Wear light, loose-fitting clothing.
🚗 Never leave children, older adults or pets in a vehicle. LOOK BEFORE YOU LOCK!
👀 Check on friends, family and neighbors, especially during prolonged heat.
