Water lilies!!! We spent the morning with our pond muse Poule d'Eau Kyle seeing all the beautiful blooms. Fun fact we learned today….water lily blossoms are fragrant. But you have to get up close to smell them. See below!! Another fun fact, we have seven different varieties blooming in our big fountain. Some are day bloomers and some are night!!

When you are hosting dinner for the winning bidders of the Bayou Teche Museum auction fundraiser and Chef Alex Patout is cooking the meal it’s magical….even if you are on the back porch hiding…or maybe especially if you are on the back porch hiding. He treated us to a delicious gazpacho and a gorgeous smoked filet with creamed spinach and brabant potatoes. I know the guests inside had the best meal ever and so did we ❤️❤️❤️!

It may be stifling hot outside but the flora and fauna of Albania are flourishing and don’t seem to mind the heat. A big thank you to Annette (from Jeanerette) and Pulle D’eaux for their love of the grounds, including the smallest creatures that call Albania Mansion home!

Good morning friends.
I fear I confused lots of folks by creating two separate posts…the first with the original bed and the second with the replacement. I am posting them side by side below. I apologize for the confusion. I think my impatient desire to share the project has made for more posts than necessary and lots of confusion around which bed is which! The one on the left is the “new” bed and the one on the right is the old bed. Thanks so much for your interest in these historic beds! It does my heart good to know so many people care about the stories and lives these beds have witnessed.
