Good morning friends.
I fear I confused lots of folks by creating two separate posts…the first with the original bed and the second with the replacement. I am posting them side by side below. I apologize for the confusion. I think my impatient desire to share the project has made for more posts than necessary and lots of confusion around which bed is which! The one on the left is the “new” bed and the one on the right is the old bed. Thanks so much for your interest in these historic beds! It does my heart good to know so many people care about the stories and lives these beds have witnessed.

Time for a little updo on the bayou! I was at auction a couple weeks back bidding on a pair of chairs and then this gorgeous bed came up and not a soul bid on it. It was magnificent, made in New Orleans, and all I could think about was how sad I was that this piece which surely tells a family’s history…marital fights, sleepless nights….babies being made…would miss out on its future history. So just before the hammer fell and before I could think clearly my paddle went up and its future was assured. So today we are making a quick change over just before guests arrive this afternoon. Here is a before pic of our Bayou Room. Will post a pic of our new look once we have it all complete!
