09/04/2026

This Labor Day, we recognize our education partners who are instrumental in preparing Missouri's workforce for the jobs of today and tomorrow.

Their collaboration with employers helps workers build valuable skills that are aligned to the needs of the business. This focused training helps individuals advance their careers and stay competitive in a challenging market.

Together, we work each and every day to support the companies and employees who keep Missouri's economy running. Together we are making a difference.

Our Director, Kristie Davis, recently presented to a group of site selection consultants in Sikeston. This multi-day meeting provided the consultants an inside look at manufacturing excellence and economic development opportunities in the southeast region of Missouri.

To show them the diversity of skills and talent in the area, the attendees toured two great companies, The Magnum Ice Cream Company - Sikeston, MO and Alan Wire in Sikeston.

In return, the consultants provided valuable feedback on the great things they saw and where we can grow.

All in all, it was a fantastic couple of days meeting new people, gaining valuable insights, and discussing the flexible training incentives offered by Missouri One Start.

Special thanks to Allen Wire and Magnum for hosting facility tours, and to Bootheel Progress With Partnership and Missouri Partnership for coordination and planning of the event.

Our Program Coordinator, David Prey, toured Refresco North America in Joplin this week. Their Missouri plant specializes in contract manufacturing and packaging for fruit juices, as well as Gatorade and Body Armor.

In 2023, Refresco expanded, with a $30.5 million dollar investment in their facility, which created 40 jobs.

Refresco partners locally with Crowder College via Missouri One Start's Job Retention Training Program.

Our thanks to Crowder and Refresco for being such gracious hosts!

This just in 📢 - Missouri One Start is ranked #4 in the U.S. for customized workforce training! 🏆 We're humbled to be included in a cohort of outstanding colleagues.

But of course, no one achieves great things on their own. Our work is done alongside our statewide education partners who work tirelessly to bring workforce training to businesses in their communities. They're integral to our success so we share this honor with them.

We truly believe that flexibility is a key benefit of our programs. From interns and apprentices to upskilling incumbent workers, we have an incentive for each step of the employee training journey.

Thank you, Business Facilities magazine, for this recognition.
