This morning, MCGA grower-leaders joined farmers and ag organizations from 18 states to emphasize the strain fertilizer prices are putting on farmers during discussions with the Federal Trade Commission at a farm in Texas.

In addition to the listening session with growers, FTC Chairman Andrew Ferguson announced the commission was launching an investigation into the concentration and pricing power of the fertilizer industry. The announcement comes on the heels of fertilizer companies returning more than $20 billion to shareholders in the last five years, while net farm income declined, and farm bankruptcies increased sharply in several states.
